    I will be spending a month in Sweden in December with my family and I had a question, are there any English language programs for medicine in Sweden? If not, how hard would it to be to learn Swedish? How hard is it for a foreigner to get an acceptance into a Swedish medical school?

    No English programs exist to my knowledge.

    Language is relatively close to English (both are Germanic languages and English was influenced by Danish prior to the Norman conquest), so it can be learned with an effort.

    Don't know about the admission requirements for foreigners, do know that it is highly competitive for locals, as many end up in places like Hungary and try to transfer back after one or more years.

    US loans may be available as Sweden is on the NCFMEA list.

    Also, while they probably enjoy a better reputation than that of English programs at CE schools, they equally will not prepare you for the USMLE. Having spoken to someone that transferred from Hungary back to Sweden, they found the Swedish curriculum easy in comparison. I know that is anecdotal, but I thought that I'd mention it.

    The ones I knew, who were able to do it from Hungary, did so after second year. They took a Swedish exam and if they passed it, entered a lottery for the 'open' seats at their level at Swedish schools. Far more stayed in Hungary than went home.

    No idea if this system is still used.

    xypathos, you need::
    Highest possible grades
    or/and
    Highest possible score at a university test in swedish (like mcat)

    Then they will do a "draw" on the applicants, there are about 10-15 elites fighting for every seat. (Then you'll have to do a IQtest and an interview with a psychologist, if you want to enter Karolinska Inst.)

    I would suggest you to study at a Central European school then moving to Sweden or any other of the +25 EU countires.
