It is a little strange having Miklos back Poznan!! Maybe if you consider that one semester in the Carib. is what I pay for the whole year here in Poznan, the application fee seems cheap. Also the cost of living here is way lower than in the Carib. And as Miklos stated I did visit the Carib before choosing Poznan.

Hope Medical Institute is a Scam

I just read your message inquiring about Hope Medical Institue. While they may offer you a service when it comes to applying for school, because they charge a ridiculous fee, it amounts to "scammery". If you are unable to apply directly to a school, then my best advice is that school doesn't deserve your money. Call the school first, and specifically request to submit an application directly. If they don't permit you to do so, then, find another school!

hey neongoat and gvanderv, could you guys compare your schools respectively and give the up and down of each program. I understand there is alot of info on each thoughout these forums but it is not very organized. 1. Clinical core rotations in poland are they in your opinions conducted in a positive learning environment. Can a person be assertive and learn what is needed and more?Or, are attendings aloof and hard to pin down...How does staff interact with american students vs others? Can a person set up electives in 3rd or 4th year? Are ppl transfering out to get US rotations after USMLE. You guys know anyone in the match this year? Also Between the two cities what are the up and down sides to both. For those of us that rely so much on info provided by you guys I want to thank you for your time and efforts.

Poznan - has a proven track record with graduating Med Students who eventually practice in the States. Of course, unless you REALLY REALLY REALLY want to live in Cali, that might be a difference - but aren't they working on that?

I've had my share of arguments with the Poznan folks.

Ahh, I see...

...well, now I'm tempted to search your post history, and track down the alleged arguments... (if you don't mind, that is)

EDIT: BTW Miklos, when are 'they' gonna make you MOD of the European Section of the Forums? You seem to help a lot of people out here. When I first joined, it was YOU whom I first came in contact with, and I actually thought you were a Mod.

In either case (Mod or No Mod), I think you deserve some recognition, for helping people out, and giving us some of your time in this hectic process! So, THX Bud!

Academically I don't think there is a major difference b/w Poz and UJ at this time. Things to look at for me would be location, tuition costs, where your friends/relatives are, etc. Also, if you come to UJ here in Krakow for example and you decide after 1st year that it just sucks then you can change to Poz, or vice-versa. Assuming your grades are OK.

I'll back Neongoat from a Poznan viewpoint. I think they are both pretty equal. Differences are probably in the location mainly. But I don't know for sure I am only familiar with Poznan. Never been to Krakow.

Thanks, but I am not sure that I would make a good mod (I am way too opinionated). A good mod, IMO, simply needs to enforce the TOS.

There was some discussion about this in the past, but after having crossed swords with Doc (the site admin) a couple of times recently, I am pretty certain that he now has second thoughts about me being a mod. In addition, as I am done with medical school and now looking forward to residency, I find that I do not have the enthusiasm I used to have for this forum.

I think that when I have a little more time I may put up a couple of posts with some general advice on CE medical schools and resources and link them to my blog (still under construction) and then call it a day. There is plenty of very solid advice coming from a number of folks on this forum (especially the Poznan group), so I do not feel bad about "retiring" soon.
