Question Jagiellonian vs. American U of Caribbean

Hey guys....so, I've gotten into both Jagiellonian, the 4yr English program, and AUC and I'm not sure where I should go. I'm from southern California, and I want to be able to come back here for residency (preferably) and to practice. I definitely prefer Europe over the Caribbean, but as far getting into residencies in US, I'm not sure which one would be a wiser choice.

If you have any input, please HELP!

Hey there. I just got accepted to Jagiellonian too for the 6 year program. The Jagiellonian University is recognized by the state of California so it shouldn't be too hard to go back and do your residency and what not. that's my plan

cheers,
Pat

How difficult is it to get accepted into the 6 year program at the Jagiellonian University?

It's not terribly difficult to get admitted to the 6-year program, but it is difficult for many of the students to complete the program, at least for the North American students. This is due to the fact that many of them are simply not ready for the rigors of medical education, even though people from the 4-year program consider the 6-year program a breeze. In my opinion, only the most rigorous of high schools in NA would prepare an 18-year old for medical education.

Although I can't speak specifically to the rigors of UJ, as a college student I would have to agree with Rotten's assertion that the gap between a US high school and any higher education is probably pretty big, but certainly not impossibly big. In fact, many people I know, including myself, did poorly in high school because of all the busy work and little projects that seemed entirely pointless, and then did well in college because the work is more stimulating and no one is around to "hold your hand," as the expression goes. I guess what I'm trying to say is that success in college and beyond can depend a lot on learning style, and definitely on the motivation that paying tuition creates, instead of just being required to show up everyday and do things you're not interested in, as is often the case in American high schools.
