residency after Sackler
Hello-
My name is Allan and I've recently been accepted to Sackler medical school. From all my research about the school, and from recommendations from many friends, Sackler seems to be an excellent place for becoming a highly professional physician. However, I cannot find a consensus regarding how well Sackler graduates place when applying for residency programs. I guess my question is how are Sackler graduated regarded when applying for residencies, especially competitive ones such as orthopedic surgery? Should I reconsider attending Sackler if this poses a serious problem (i.e. if I want to be accepted to a competitive residency program)? As a follow up, how are Sackler graduates regarded compared to graduates of US based medical schools (regarding residency acceptance)? Thanks, Allan |

In the NE, Sackler has an EXCELLENT reputation, as well as any most US med schools.
In the south/midwest/west, most PDs will never have heard of Sackler. If your set on ortho, go US for sure. My buddy was anexcellent canidate for orthopedics (US grad with board scores of 230+ and only got 4 interviews and didn't match) and didn't match. Ortho is very tough, and almost impossible for a IMG. You will get a residency if you go to Sackler, just probably not a competitive one like radiology or ortho. |
