BGU - Question about life in Beer-Sheva

Hey everyone!

I am really interested in the program at BGU, and I have a question that I'm really hoping some people will be able to help me out with.

I would like to learn what types of employment (if any) spouses obtain in Beer-Sheva - does anyone have any information?

I contacted the school, and they told me that spouses typically work under the table as tutors or something similar. But, does anyone know of someone who has had legitimate employment? And if so, what type of work was it?

I have a huge interest in international health, and from everything I've read, BGU would be my top choice in med schools (above studying in the US). But, I can't ask my wife to sit around and do nothing for four years.

I would really appreciate any insight and suggestions that you can offer. Thank you for your help!

I am a first year student here at BGU. It is a really neat program As for employment, I think that most of the spouses here do work under the table for NGOs, telecom companies and such. I will be getting married in July and will be bring my wife back. We have been looking for a while here and haven't been able to secure anything yet. There are teaching opportunities in Tel Aviv and farther North but that is a huge commute everyday and would be unrealistic for your wife to travel that distance, but it is doable if you wanted. Right now my wife is just planning on doing some volunteer work with the many NGOs and foreign immigrant adsorption centers here in Beer Sheva and Tel Aviv and will most likely do an online master's program. Hope that helps, feel free to contact me for more info. You will enjoy it here and the education is no less than any school in the states.
