Exclamation Need Advice ASAP for Israeli Med Schools please GPA /MCAT

Hi,

My question to the point:

Do I have any chance of getting accepted to any of the Israeli Medical schools now with my stats:

GPA: 3.88
MCAT: B 8, P 9 , V 3 /J
Tons of volunteer work and LOR
New York Resident

any chance for
Sackler: Tel Aviv
Technion: Haifa
Ben-Gurion: Beer Sheva

I messed up the verbal and english on MCAT because it is my second language, I am not really that bad in english.. do you think that is a killer?
would taking TOFEL helps?

P.S. for now I am hanging in the Wait List at NYCOM.

Please respond..

Thank you

i doubt Sackler would consider you theyve become quite competitive, but try em all, kinda late in the game though to apply for 07. try and get that verbal over a 5 at least if you can. examcrackers verbal is very good.

it's kinda late in the year to apply for 07 with low scores because the class at each school is filling up...so the spots that are left are becoming more competitive i got on a wait list (originally) at sackler with 2 mcat scores of 26:

10 verbal
10 bio
6 phys sci

8 verbal
9 bio
9 phys sci

with P in my writing...verbal is an important part of the mcat..a lot of schools would prefer verbal to be the higher of the scores...ive heard they are not as hard on you with a low phys sci score

ps...i applied in the fall and interviewed in february...i didnt find out either of my decisions till end of april/start of may

The Sackler Class of 2011 is almost filled up. They are still interviewing, but from what I know they have already accepted 70 students.

Our class (2010) is the largest class with an original admitted amount of 79, but a few decided not to come.

MCAT scores vary, and I know they range from 23 - 36, maybe even higher, but with most students landing in the high 20s.

My recommendation is to start now for the august MCAT, and reapply then.

I agree with maji, although I believe they only have accepted 69 so far (not 70, ha). they are shooting for a class size around 65 (at every school, not everyone who is accepted actually matriculates).

I had a friend who could not apply to Sackler since he had not taken his MCAT yet, but was accepted to Technion on the condition that he obtain a minumum of 8 in each section of the MCAT prior to attending. He took the August MCAT, got to Israel in October and a couple days before his school started, he learned that he in fact got at least an 8 in each subsection. He is finishing up his first year at Technion right now.

If you ask me- if you don't mind spending the 50 bucks- apply! Worst comes to worst you dont get in! Some people would say that applying a second time hurts your chances b/c you didn't get in the first time, I don't think so. Especiall in light of the fact that if you don't get in you will probably improve your MCAT during the following year any way making the fact that you didn't get in first round null!
Good luck in everything you do!

Retake the MCAT! An MCAT that low will make your high GPA look suspicious. Also, I'm not sure if New York residency really helps, since it is a private school. Please correct me if I am mistaken.
