About the current situation...

Hi everyone-
I figure that some of you all that are coming over to Israel to start school this September have a lot of questions regarding safety etc...
It's very understandable and natural but before you ask for your tuition back and cancel flights I will try to draw a picture of what is really going on here and what may be expected.
First you may all be asking yourselves, who is this guy, or what authority am I. Well, I am not an authority, but I have been living in Israel many years before I started the American program here, I even served in the IDF. I do have some experience in IL.
First off- let me say, that I have never seen the Israeli community so untied in anything before and it is nice to see. Some good does come oout of bad!
Second- about the real threat. I don't know if any of you are looking at the numbers, but there is a huge difference in the numbers swaying towards the Israeli side. I don't like the fact that there are "numbers" at all, but the difference in numbers are slightly reassuring as to being in Israel. This difference, is of course due to the nature of Ils' weapons as opposed to the Hizbollas weapons which work according to the laws of statistics then to anything else (I heard that today alone they fired more then 500 rockets- that killed maybe 3 people- don't hold me responsible for theses figures they are just estimates).
Third- regions- to those of you in Beer-Sheba- you definitely have nothing to worry about. You couldn't get any farther from the front line. Haifa- technion students is a different matter. I heard that the technion is still set on continuing with the school year as plaaned and rightfully so. They don't start until October which is plenty of time to have all of this over by then. Furthermore, and this goes to Sackler students as well, if all fails and the s**t really does hit the fan, you will plenty of time in advance and you will be able to get out of here if you really want to, but I am pretty sure that you won't feel anything.
I am now in Tel-Aviv, I feel as safe as I felt a month ago.
I hope I reassured some of you a bit. I tried to be frank.
Anyway, I am going to bed! Tomorrow is a new day- I battle physiology tommorow- talk about scary!!! Who says I can do it all in one day?
Please feel free to ask me any questions, direct me to any issue or topic you fancy, except politics, I don't feel like getting into one of those.
