life for non-jewish students at sackler

Hey Everyone ~ I have applied and just got into Sackler (I'm Peruvian). I know it is an extremely reputable school. One issue that has my stomach churning is how life might be there for a non-jewish student? From the pictures - it looks like a great place. Is there anyone who knows how people from other racial groups faired at Sackler .. any stories? any advice? anyone else in a similar boat/class of 2010? any help would be appreciated !

I dont think its going to be any sort of issue. From what I hear, most of Israel is secular, not sure about the student body for our class of 2010, but time will only tell.

I wouldnt worry about it, you are the one who will determine your success, ethnicity/religion cannot be discriminated against.

I dont know what sort of help you are looking for. You will be fine, I highly doubt anyone is going to alienate you, I wouldnt.

Thanks for the info Maji .. I am pretty excited about going to Israel/Sackler .. but again, its a culture shock; it will be the first time I will be in an area with little cultural diversity (i'm talking about the university itself here). Can anyone provide more insight?

You shouldn't have a problem! True that in some classes a majority of the students are jewish and of those a lot are religious, but there are also the seculars and the non-jewish which I feel from what I see are fine all in all. Again, I can only give you my secular view of things but I really wouldn't lose sleep over it. It is still a class made up of americans. Were you born and raised in Peru? I spent like 2-3 months there and I loved Peru. If you have any more specific questions feel free to ask.

How is life in Tel Aviv?! I have been also accepted to SGU (St. George's); I personally think Tel Aviv would provide for a better learning environment (a non-jewish student learning about a totally different culture). I hear that in many ways Tel Aviv has a better quality of life than even America - what can people say to this end? People say that SGU is the way to go in terms of residencies .. but when comparing stats.. I find Sackler students to be more impressive.

I've been to many cities in this world, few cities are more fun than this one.
