The Kerala High Court in India on January 29, 2004, LIFTED the restraining order against Universal Empire, the parent company or partner of IUHS.
The short version of a long article in THE HINDU ONLINE is that the court ruled against the Medical Council of India (MCI) which asked the court to prevent Universal Empire from offering Universal Empire medical degrees in India until Universal Empire was properly registered with the MCI. The court ruled that Universal Empire's medical degrees come directly from and through IUHS in St. Kitts, West Indies. Therefore, it seems that the court decided that Universal Empire did not need MCI approval to cooperate with the IUHS program since IUHS was not issuing medical degrees in India. See the URL above for the details.
As an acquaintance of mine says who attended IUHS and speaks rather highly of their distance-learning program: "Case closed; next case."
