Thread: Important questions for IUHS, please answer as accurately as possible :)

So let me get this straight IUHS allow students to actually do 2 years of basic sciences online anywhere you want????
Hmm that doesn't sound bad to me, i can work and go to med school at the same time.
Even if the cambus doesn't work out, heck just do online.
However the main questions are:
1) pass rate for USMLE
2) what percent of the student match and out of how many students?
3) Does the school have any set up clinical rotations at US
4) is the school disapprove anywhere?
5) is there NY approval
6) Do you have any practicing physicians
7) how many students do you have this year
8) how many students do you have per course (both online and in the island)
9) what is the tuition
10) any financial support such as loans and scholarships

If the answers to majority of these questions are good, then I say, "let's give the virtual med school a chance "

I know this is old but you wont become licensed in the US if any portion of your medical education is done online

Perhaps this is more recently introduced regulation? I have heard of a handful of grads who are licensed physicians.

I don't know of any grads of IUHS who frequent this forum. Your best bet is to get in touch with the school directly, and for the rest of your questions, ask the school if they can get you in touch with any of the graduates. However, very very carefully assess the risks involved in doing your basic sciences online.

Online? Never please. Don't even think about it for MD program. I beg. Not for US medical practice.

from my conversations with boards this holds to be true, and if I remember correctly there is a thread somewhere on VMD where people emailed the boards about online basic sciences programs and posted the replies of several boards only to find out that it was unacceptable for licensure if the board found out it was done online.

UHSA used to have an online program until this became a problem and they didn't want to hurty their students so they got rid of that online program.

My facts are sketchy because its been awhile and this is off the top of my head but I recommend calling the boards and confirming it.

I wouldn't be surprised if no states allow it anymore. I was just passing on what I had heard a while back.

I know for a fact IUHS has people licensed all over the USA except for Cali.

I won't spoon feed you, you do the leg work to see even New York State will license them. go to the nysed dot gov website and have a look. then maybe all this about this school will be solved.

this is a real school? it doesn't look to be functioning ... ever. i've driven by it many times in sk. it looks like a pos. lol

That's the reality of "cyberspace" medical schools. These organizations buy a shack with a microscope and a couple medical textbooks in a sovereign country, get a business license, apply for recognition with the WHO and IMED and bingo! You've got a bona fide medical school with a beautiful website to prove it!
