See its funny how these schools try to recruit people, you see for all you might know the school probably has extremely good intentions and great teaching but my boy that goes there felt he was tricked. its pretty funny but the school is on the top building of a couple of local businesses thats why they show u the tilted picture on their web site. They have about 6 per class, its all basically indians and 2 poor black dudes. But they like it though, they seem to like the teaching and stuff.
Hey as long as you can take ur usmle from the school its all that matters, only 1 dude has taken it from the school and i dont know if he passed or not. Hey if they teach well and do what they are supposed to do i bet their students will be fine.
I just think its funny they dont tell students the school is on top of a couple of cell phone stores, and electronics shop, a couple of chineese restaurants and crap in the dead center of a stinky town. My boy told me that he came to class the first day, looked out the window and there were clothes hanging off a line! He stuck with it and he is making the best of it, so i guess its all gravy.

Yeah, I saw the picture on their website. The picture is a panaramic view of the island with an arrow point to IAU!! As soon as I saw that I knew the "campus" was probably useless

The website was recently updated, and includes some errors, including the one the previous posters have sardonically pointed out. We are not here to con anyone. We will respond honestly to all questions posted.

Regarding loans, we do not have federal loans in place here at IAU right now, nor do we have private lenders associated with us, yet (we are awaiting approval from a couple private lenders). All relevant new financial information will be posted immediately. On the other hand, US students entering the programs offered through Texas A&M or Southeast would be eligible and this, as a matter of fact, is why this FAFSA information showed up.

This misinformation was not INTENDED to mislead anyone. We have already removed the page from the site, and will be updating the entire site in the month to come. We apologize to those who were misled. For those who wish to continue their attacks, so be it, for that unfortunately is the route many valuemd members take (in addition to providing misinformation and conjecture). Those who pay attention to the truth will seek it out from the source itself. We highly recommended to all those looking into offshore medical schools, or into any organization they wish to join, to inquire, inquire, then inquire again.

IAU has nothing to hide. We are a relative new school with a small student population, with a superb international faculty that continues to grow. We have not built our permanent university yet (the previous comment about the arrow point was classic), but do occupy over 30,000 square feet of space which is filled with new and modern equipment. We are growing in all ways, but what will always be true, even when we do have our nice, spacious university grounds, is that we will lead our students to success by helping them in every which way we can. Through our case-based program with much hands on experience and our acute awareness that step 1 of the USMLE must be passed, our students have the tools available to them in order to succeed in their academic endeavors, to become established physicians in the States. IAU has every intention of being a provider of excellent students to US hospitals, which will help the overall reputation of all Caribbean medical schools. We will do this through honest means only.

We are well aware of valuemd as a crucial resource for information, and are also aware of the manifestations of anonymous posts. Nonetheless, it can be useful. We, after all, were very indirectly told that our website contained bad information. Thanks for the input, whoever you are.

We cannot overemphasize the following: anyone wishing to obtain the most recent information should contact us directly at info@iau.edu.lc, or call us at at our St. Lucia campus at (214) 432-0160 (number is based in the Dallas area), or simply send us a private message via this website. We'll get back to you quickly. And keep in mind that the website will be getting a major facelift, making it much more useful as a source of IAU information. Presently, it is not, and for this we apologize.

Best wishes in your endeavors.

Regards,
IAU

Coming to this school I had questions because it is new and smaller than most schools, but after being here for some time and talking to friends at other schools I am quite confident that I made the right descision. Unlike most of the Caribbean schools, IAU does not treat the students as sources of money where as long as you pay they will pass you. IAU's main goal is to prepare you to be the best doctor you can be. The teachers are some of the best that I have ever had. The cirriculum that we have is very strenuous and while it was hard at first, I am sure now that I will be more than prepared to take the USMLE and practice in the US. As for the school's population we have students from all sorts of backgroundsand from all parts of the world. More than seeing the ethnicity of the students what is more important is the character of the students. THe senior students here are more than willing to help anyone on any class, help in setlling in, and in creating a environment that is conducive to studying with the right amount of fun with events like a weekly football game.

How many students do you have? If it's a new school, where are the seniors coming from? What is the tuition and fees per semester? Are there payment plans and/or scholarships and grants? Was Sept your first class?
