    Cheating is Rampant at IAU

IAU recently had a cheating scandal. A staff member was selling tests to students for at least the last 8 months. Until the school gets the cheating problem under control i would suggest to go to another school. The quality of teaching is good, but the integrity of a lot (not all) of the students has deteriorated. Everything i am saying is 100% true. If this school wants to continue to have a good reputation they must address this problem. This is a good school but there are alot of cheaters. To be fair it is difficult for the administration to control cheating because of a lack of proof. Cheating effects the honest students on the borderline. This is effecting peoples lives. Many honest students have failed because of people getting the test's beforehand.

There are so many students who are cheating. Students are always searching around for old shelf exams or old exams period. it happens at a lot of schools. I have seen the threads all over valueMD, heard of people cheating & have seen it happen. Its a shame that it happens at any school

Even if people are cheating, it doesn't matter. They going to fail USMLE

    Thankyou, very well put

And for Cardiomegaly, WHO SAID ANYTHING ABOUT SEARCHING OLD EXAMS??? The students are getting exams from others schools that were JUST TAKEN THE DAY BEFORE.... So no Cardiomegaly, this is WRONG and can't be justified

    I agree with Kiddhansaliya

two semester ago, I was dead set on going to IAU, until I read about the rampant cheating scandal. My friend transfer out of the school in a speed of light to look for a better med school education. I use to think that the cheating thing is no big deal, it just means passing your classes and more time to study for the boards. Then I realize that residency program committee officials are actually reading value MD and jotting down notes for each caribbean medical school. I'm just saying, they are associating cheating with IAU, that is why there are over 70 students per semester, but only a few lucky ones get residency.

This is why I chose another medical school so I don't have to defend any cheating dramas.

I agree all caribbean medical schools have their issues, whether it's cheating or politics. I just think politics is much easier to defend and be forgiven than rampant cheating scandal.

I find these post absolutely ridiculous. I am sure there is some cheating going on at every school US or any island. The facts are and have been for the past few semesters that the NBME exams have dropped from 70% of the grade to what they say 40 and 50%. After the curve configuration they truly are only worth about 35% The mini exams which there are 6 in one semester must be kept after about 10point curve a 70% avg. They are impossible to cheat on because every semester the professors create new exams. The school has increased its standards and has opened up a sister school because of the increasing number of people failing. The new dean is pretty cool. He failed about half of a few classes last semester but allowed for an NBME make up exam. All it proved was that most people intact did not have the NBME exams. Many were able to pass on a second attempt.
