Question regarding interview

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this and had some questions. I searched the forum but didn't see anything regarding people's interview experiences. I'm sceduled for a phone interview and just wanted to know what to expect.
-What kind of questions do they ask, just general quest like why you want to be a doctor or something more in depth?
-How should I prepare other than going over my application and transcript?
Thanks

You should deffinately just be yourself, I think it is a more laid back type interview, however you must still be professional. Go over your application and your essays, they might ask questions from it, about your experience in the medical field. Also the tpyical interview question, why you want to be a doctor, how can you be an asset to the medical field. How are you going to adapt to the island conditions and can you take the stress and workload. How have you shown in the past that you have handled heavy work load and worked your way through it. These are just some of what they may ask. This is based on my interview I had a while back and some of my friends that went through it too. The staff that you might get interviewed by are very polite, informative and very well educated induviduals. It might be Dr. E or Dr. S or maybe another faculty member from the admissions board. Most of all just show them that you are determined and dedicated to go through with this regardless of all the hardships that you will encounter and askthem questions also to show your genuinely interested.
Thats all i can really think of right now.
Good luck

IAUPREMED said it correctly - just be yourself. It's not a tough interview by any stretch of the imagination, but don't be an stupid about what you say either. The people you will talk to will be polite and will try to make the interview go as easy as possible, just be truthful about your feelings and go from there.

My interview was fairly straight forward, why do you want to be in medicine, what turned you to medicine in the first place, do you have any experiences in medicine, etc. Nothing really all that intense. They'll ask you if you have any questions for them - and it might not be a bad idea to have a few ready, things that you feel are important to you or things that you may not fully understand about the school.

Anyway, good luck with the interview, I'm sure it'll go fine.

Thank you for your replies guys.
But were there any particular questions that they asked, other than the general ones?

Interview Questions

I got asked questions in relation to my transcript grades, handling school with a significant other, and how I felt about the medical industry as whole in the business versus ethical sense.

Thanks for the help guys. I had my interview and two days later I received my acceptance letter. I'm so excited.

BTW you guys were right. They just asked me questions regarding my transcript, volunteer experience, my essay, how will I adjust to living on the island? No ethics questions, etc.

Congrats on the acceptance - and I'm glad that we were able to help you with the interview - people tend to worry more than they really need to about it.

mljackson19 - in terms of what you may need to go to the island and what other things you should expect, feel free to read some of the other posts that are up here. There are extensive post about what students (currently on the island or previously on the island) brought and what they suggest you should bring. Hope that helps.
