Do we need ECFMG certification before Match?

Would love to hear from a fellow Canadian going through this process currently. I will be graduating in Jan 2008 and hoping to start residency in July 2008. I am planning to apply to hospitals sponsring H-1B visas. I was looking through the req. for many hospitals for residency appl. and a lot of them require ECFMG certification before interview. I understand that one of the requirement of which, is having the diploma in hands. Have many Canadians been able to secure residency spots with H1 visa, having only 5 months in between their graduation and residency start date? Good luck to ppl going through scramble, I sincerely hope you guys make it. Congratulations to those who matched. Thank you very much for responding to my question. |
