B1 Visa
I am not aware of a cap for it. Since your clerkships usually don't go past 2-3 years, you wouldn't need more than one or two renewals. I got mine for a year and then renewed it for the remaining 6 months when I passed through customs at the border. As long as you show a letter from the school stating that you are in clerkships with the dates (from __ to ___), then you will be issued a renewal.
