I was hoping someone could shed some light on a situation my sister-in-law is facing. She is a Canadian citizen who has completed her entire undergraduate education in the US. She will be graduating from a top US medical school next year.

As a Canadian holding a US Medical degree, will she qualify for an H1 or does she need to get a J1? Does she need to pass Step 3 too? Lastly, does she need to take some sort of Canadian exam to get her Visa?

Any knowledge you might have on the situation would be helpful. Reading the forum hasn't gotten me too far since her situation is so unique.

The situation is not unique. Canadian Citizens who do their undergrad and medical school in the US can use an OPT visa for the pgy1, write USMLE Step 3 during that year, obtain the H1-B visa OR obtain the J-1 Visa for the whole residency.
Since Canadian and US medical degrees are 'equivalent', the US grad is not subject to the MCC Evaluating Exam (IMGs must subject to this exam and must write it in advance of applying for a J-1 Visa.)
