i will comment on the quality of education at the university of debrecen. personally, i think it isn't that bad. however, it could be a lot better. the quality of "teaching" is very poor. there are some lecturers who are great, usually these are the heads of the respective departments. and the majority will literally put you to sleep during their lectures, sad but true!

if you are a self learner and require minimal help when studying. i think you will do fine at any of these two universities.

i would choose debrecen over kosice though. just because it is federally approved for students loans. and being from california, accreditation of the english program in debrecen is another plus.

overall, i think the quality would be similar among english programs in central europe.

yeah spidaman

If i were you, I would choose Debrecen over Kosice. Because Hungary is known of producing good physicians. Besides medical school in hungary are more well established and known internationally. Me too, I was interested in applying in Kosice until they sent me an email that they won't consider my bachelor of pharmacy degree because its over 5 years old. The reason why i want to apply there because since i have a BSc and took post bacc. premed in less than 5 years, i would be exempted in taking the entrance exam and would by pass the 1st year but instead go directly to 2nd year. So, i did not waste my time applying there, glad i emailed first.
I applied to Szeged instead. because its stafford loan eligible. I spoke with the US representative and looks like theres hope. Well, I'll see in the coming weeks.
I also applied in three schools in the Caribbean such as AUA, UMHS and UNIBE. The first two schools had interviewed me already, so now waiting anxiously for the result.

if you can, apply to szeged or semmelweis too. i would recommend those two hungarian schools before debrecen. mainly due to the high attrition rates in debrecen.

I agree to all of the above, but I also would like to add that, you will be in a better position if you personally go and check out the places , before you commit. I know, its quite a financial commitment, but ..if you ..see a place by yourself, you will know exactly what you are getting into ,and will help you decide better.

Good luck
