I hope to start studying in pécs in september. how is gonna go there too? do you already have an apartment over there?

Dear Julia, I have a really beautiful apartment for rent in Pécs-city center, next to Széchenyi square. Foreign medical students have been living there before and have been satisfied with the falt. The apartment was built in 2000, is fully equipped and beautifully furnished. It consists of a huge living room and kitchen, 4 bedrooms all opening from a corridor, 1 bathroom w/ toilet, 1 toilet. My name is Steve. I'm Irish and I just finished a degree over here. Got accepted into Pecs medical school and heading over there at the end of august. Looks like we'll be classmates. I haven't found anywhere to stay as of yet, not sure what the procedure is. It seems that the apartments are pretty sweet and not too expensive. All I know is that I have to get a flight to Budapest and get a train to Pecs.

From what I have heard it is very tough over there, especially the first two years and the language is supposed to be not far from impossible.

Anyways let me know if you want any other information.

actually the "hard" doesnt really end untill after the 7th semester when you finish pharmacology!, and don listen to what others say about what others say. The people who complain the most are usually the ones who do the worst...

And steve is your degree a science related one?, if so then its really good and you can use to your advantage which will make atleast your first 2 years at med school in Pecs SO SO SO much easier as you would be able to apply for exemptions from courses depending on what you have studied previously. It is a really high probability that you could be exempted from all but a few subjects in the first year which will not only make things a whole lot easier but will also reduce your fees considerably (something the uni wont openly tell you!!)

And regarding flats and apartments, studenthousing.hu located on the 3rd floor of the school are your best bet and have some very nice ones.

i was wondering what is the hardest subject at pecs and how many students make it to the next year

50 percent fail the first semester. Of the remaining 50 percent, half of them fail the second semester. Relax because you can repeat years without failing out.

I'd probably say Medical Chemistry 1 and 2 in Semesters 1 n 2 are probably the subjects that catch most students out and one of the main reasons why so many don't make it through into the 2nd year.

Although in this year I believe 2/3 of the student made it through to the 2nd yr starting this fall.

U have only 2 years....if u fail more than twice then u may not continue in the uni or Hungary...unless rules have changed....and flunking the year include postponing it for any reason!
