Women as doctors/wives/mothers/daughter-in-laws…

Heey there,

Seems to me as if life gets very hard for a woman who’s a doctor and has a family. Is it true? I mean working at the hospital, then coming home and cooking for the family, cleaning up, looking after the kids and parents, and to please everyone… how does it work? How do u women manage??

Sara

When youu have a doctors salary perhaps you can afford to pay someone to help with cleaning and the cooking. A good husband would ease the load too. My husband will work part time (College Professor) and will help with the kids, cooking ect. There is still hard work however to keep a marriage srong.

Hey Sara, who says the women have to do everything, just divide the work up. Also prioritize, what needs to get done and what can wait. You don't have to vacuum every two days. Also cook in bulk on the weekend, and something that's really helped me in the cooking dept. is to clean and store veggies that day. It helps when cooking, all you do in pull them out. Don't worry, everything will fall into place.

thank you for ur replies...yeah ur right...my mom does the same too with veggies, sure helps alot! I guess life gets a little hard while working and looking after our family but seems to me that one is able to find ways to make it easy and under control, so thats good! And it depends alot on ur husband too like Nimmuk said...if he's a good helping hand than life is enjoyable ...just that sometimes husbands can turn out to be very lazy and perfer their wives to do all the work...

you know what i wish...that guys had these same concerns. it just doesn't seem fair that women worry about these things and guys don't (I have yet to meet any guy that worries about marriage, family, etc).

well, guess life isn't fair, huh?

being a female and a doctor and having a family is definitely not an easy task, but doable...it has been done by many women before and will continue to be done.

good luck all!

Some guys do consider these things. I have relatives where the wife is the doctor and eventhough the husband has a full-time job, he does most of the child-rearing. I think there should be a balance.

You will get a baby-sitter who will double as a cook and cleaning lady.

mommd.com

Just in case you haven't found it yet,
http://www.mommd.com/

There doesn't seem to be many FMG/IMGs, but i thought all y'all female med students might find it useful, especially for starting families while hitting the books.
