I have the ExamKrackers books as well as the Kaplan Book, and I plan to start studying regularly at the end of the month. Thanks!

What I mean is, do physicians get job offers in their residency spots? To become attending? Or do they have to look for other jobs? I want to become a hospital physician and...Do USIMGS find good attending spots?
with equal pay to USMGS?

Hello,

I was a navy corpsman in the Navy and was a surgical technologist, opthalmology technologist and field med tech (Iraq), for about 6 years. (earned diplomas for all the above)

The docs I worked with told me that I had it made as far as getting accepted to a med school, so got out the navy and decided to go for it.

Now I am attending a community college at the moment and I am at my sophomore year, I have taken a lot of classes including summer school since I started. Anyways I started attending in spring of 08 and have 55 credits with a GPA of 3.59, the problem is that I have withdrawn from 3 classes, 2 of them for the same class Sociology ( I hated that class so I withdrew the first time, the second time I wanted to finish what I started but it was online, my comp broke and I withdrew again; I guess I was not meant to be a sociologist lol.

The 3rd withdrawal was concepts of chem, I started the class and had an avg of 92, but had some issues with my daughter's daycare and was forced to withdraw.

I am taking gen chem 1 but I am doing terrible, I have an 80 avg. My teacher is hard as nails and his grading is not the best. anyways I was planning to withdraw again, but I thought of myself that it was probably not the best Idea.

A bunch of people say that admissions dont care about the withdrawals and others do, so I am confused

If I dont withdraw and get a B in chem my gpa only rises to 3.63
If I withdraw my GPA rises to 3.69

so what do I do?

In one hand I can have a great 3.81 GPA total once I apply to med school but showing 4 withdrawals in my transcript
In the other hand I can have a 3.72-3.75 GPA total with 3 withdrawals.

I plan to transfer to Uconn in fall 10 and get my degree from there.

Thank you for all your help

hey everyone, first off i just wanted to say that this forum community is extremely helpful.

so basically, im in my 3rd year getting my b.sc and writing the mcat this summer. my gpa is only 3.3, but i plan on getting really high on the MCAT. even still, i dont think my chances at canadian med schools are that great...

so i started looking for info. about international med schools on this forum (mainly UK and caribbean). the atlantic bridge program looks really attractive - 4 years at dublin, cork, or limerick, but costing 40000 euros/year = 60000 CAD/year is pretty scary and impossible.

ive read from other posts that caribbean schools are cheaper, but they mostly bridge to america, while a degree from a UK school would be recognized in canada (what i want to do).

what kind of options do i have if i want to finish as quickly as possible while ending up working in canada?

thanks guys!

So far I have signed up for two upper level Bio classes, a gym credit, and a non-science class. I am also planning on taking a Kaplan class and (finally) taking the MCAT. Here's my question: I really want to take a French class (I already have taken my language requirement, but I still want to learn French) but it conflicts with one of the Bio classes (cardio phys.) I'm thinking that since I will be in the Kaplan class and studying for the MCAT, I should just drop the cardio phys. class and take French. Is this a good/bad idea? I want to take a light load due to the MCAT but is cardio phys. that beneficial for med school? Thanks!
