Any one done rotations in UK and US???

Guys,

Wonder if I can get sme help with this... Have tried looking everywhere. I am planning to do first 6 months in the UK (since am a UK resident) and remaining in states with a view to keep both UK and US options open. I am just wondering that doing first 3 cores in the UK would it affect my chances of getting a residency in the US??

Secondly, how easy is it to find a residency for SGU grads who r NOT US citizens??

How long does it take to get your loan refund check after classes start

Was wondering how long it takes to get your loan refund check after class starts, in addition, once you have your check, how do you deposit it? (by which i mean, do most people deposit in a local bank, or do they send it back home)

How much money did you guys bring when you initially came to the island for 1st semester? I will probably have about $1000 after my plane ticket, I was wondering if this will be enough to be get by on until my loan check comes.

Does Windsor Have TAs?

I noticed when I was searching through the forums for the best Anatomy book that many of the schools have Anatomy TA which are usually MD2-4 students who hold sessions for extra help or give quizzes just like the American/Canadian system. So I was wondering does Windsor do this? If not I think its something they should start.

Chemistry nightmare, hell ( uni of szeged)

SO I study at the University of Szeged. I study at the English Pharmacy program. I am managing Biology, Anatomy, PHysics Biophysics and Mathematics. Been passing most of my exams just had a retake in Math and it went well. BUT General CHemistry is hell. 36 topics and 3 Calculation questions to solve. It truely is hell and the professor is expecting us to know 80-90 percent of the knowledge What is the best way to absorb all of this Chemistry? how shall I Survive? and the Calculations are tough 9 topics up to ElectroChemistry!!!

I am an indian medical student currently in my final year of med school back home. I just got my step 1 score- 189/77.
I was shocked as I had expected it to be much better. Now am just feeling very low and lost as to what my options are. I was aiming at a residency in pediatrics, but as of now I dunno what to expect.
What are my chances for peds, or for that matter anything at all??
Please help!! :(

so...i was looking up some statistics on past IMG residency matches...well, i was attempting to. anyway, does anyone out there know the total number of residency spots open for the 2009 "season" and how many applicants applied for said spots? how about the percentage of IMGs that applied and received a resdency on their first attempt?

i did read a small article about some graduates that didn't match at all! they had to wait for a year before reapplying...:faint:...and these were graduates of U.S. medical schools. again, i am aware of the fact that how we do on the Step exams is going to be the deciding factor...so what is a really high first and second step score?

good thing i don't party anymore! :p

I'm sure this has been asked before but I couldn't find anything with search, but anyways... how important if at all, is our basic science GPA when we're applying for residencies? Is it true that it basically just comes down to step scores, clinical GPA, and LOR ?
