I currently go to McMaster University Ontario, Canada, pursuing a BSc - Life Science Honours, and i'm interested in going to manipal for dentistry. Can anyone tell me some more information about it? Quality of education, accreditation in canada, life in manipal, fees, food and living areas, security, what highschool mark will guarantee admission to dentistry or university gpa. Thanks

Hi, i am currently in 2nd year of the BDS course at manipal, i am in the NRI category). Manipal has a lot of pros and cons so let me break it down:
PROS:
-Quality of education is pretty good for indian standards, i dont think you will find a better place to do a BDS degree in India.
-I guess its cheaper than doin it in canada/us/uk & easier to get into.

CONS:
-You will find manipal boring as hell after 2/3 months if you are foreign/NRI (as i did)
-Food is not that great but there are some decent places
-The weather sucks
-Some teachers can be a real pain in the ***
-Anti-NRI/foreigner attitude by teachers & some students

If u look around on this site you will prob find a lot of hatred towards almost everything in manipal, but dont take it too seriously...
There are plenty of foreign students (especially canadians) here so makin friends is not a prob, people are generally really friendly

SO basically manipal is not much to brag about, but at least you will get the proper training to be a dentist.

What grades would i need to get in?

am wondering after completing BDS at manipal, what kind of tests I need to give for license work in NA? how long it takes to be a licensed dentist working in NA?
