Hello.
My friend takes into consideration studying dentistry in the English program in central Europe. I've heard that some universities in Poland , Czech Republic and Hungary have such programs for foreign students. Can anyone provide me with the information which universities have such programs? Are there any student studying there on this forum?

yes I am going to Poland after this summer to study Dentistry in Poznan.

From what I know, there are also English dentistry programs in Hungary( I believe out of the three schools that provide English programs, one (maybe two?) have dentistry program) I also know that some Russian schools have English Dental programs as well.

Applying process is somewhat different for all of these three schools

Poznan -> marks + interview
Hungary -> marks + but more impt entrance test + interview (though if you have a univ degree or prereqs, you can get the entrance test and interview waived)
Russia -> I’m not so sure about the application procedures, but if you do decide to go, you have to do a year of language school.

I guess it is because of less demand for foreign dental schools but there are fewer spots for both Poland and Hungary vs spots for Med schools….

In regards to practicing, I know that for Poznan, the DDS you receive is valid within all EU countries. However, you must complete a year of vocational training period after the 5 years. I am probably thinking same for Hungary. To come back to Canada or U.S, you have to write exams + do 2 ~ 4 year of school (its funny but you also have to write TOEFL exam). http://forums.studentdoctor.net/forumdisplay.php?f=53 has good info..

All in all, it is a really long way if you are considering coming back to States / Canada.
However, if you are willing to spend the time like I am, I think it will be a great opportunity…

My university in Szczecin, Poland has 5-year studies in dentistry conducted in English. The annual fee is 9000$.

I also know that apart from Poznan and Szczecin, also Lodz and Wroclaw have dental studies. And when you graduate from any medical school in Poland, you can work in all EU countries - with no problems, no additional exams etc.

I hav been hearing rumors abt hese countries are not gud for studying.. and are filled with corrupt... people.

Hi. I've started medical studies in Poland this year. And I know a few people studying here dentistry in English. A they told me, they are glad with their choice so far. I do not see any corruption at my university and I don't think there is any at other universities in Poland, Czech Rep or Hungary.

i am alos doing my dentistry from poland.. and i hav n't seen any type of corruption either!!
the only problem that it take time to settle down as technology wise they r still behind... in my university!!

How can you make such a broad generalization? Have you been to every school in each country? Maybe you feel it's not probable, or to a greater extent than anywhere else, but come now; of course there's corruption. Go to the European Medical Schools forum and read about it there. I'd find it very difficult to believe that it doesn't spill into the dental programs at least a little bit.

Go to the Euro Med Schools section of this message board and seek out med_student_hungary. PM him, I think he went to the med school at Debrecen, so he might have friends who went to the dental school.

OK. So let me make my words more precise: I haven't seen any corruption at my university in Szczecin, my friend which is studying in Lodz also shares this opinion. But you're right, we're not sure about the situation at every English dental program in Eastern Europe.
