well all the medical universities per se are quite good in the CR. If you're asking which school is the best in terms of getting back to the US/Canada, then I would have to say the First Faculty. If it's Europe, then it's either the First or the Second faculty. And the third faculty is usually filled with scandinavians (so if that's where you wanna go, then the 3rd fac. would be your best bet).

I must however point out to you that each faculty is has it's own pros. and cons. The First faculty usually has the highest drop-out rates (due to the difficulty and the number of courses) but if you get through, it's worth every penny you spent on your medical education (there are quite a few successful graduates of the First fac. in the US/Canada)......but you have to be willing to work hard and keep you motivation high at all times...

Still, why should I avoid Plzen? It seems like a nice town to me and the dentistry seems like the dentistry in all the other places in the Czech Republic. Please, tell me why I should avoid Plzen!

Well I've heard that Plzen has lesser courses in medicine than we do (for eg. they don't have medical latin terminology, medical informatics, physical education). So their curriculum is not as intensive as those of the faculties in Prague. Secondly, Plzen is quite new so it's still in the developing stage (which means one doesn't actually know much about their performance as such). I've met a couple of students from Plzen who transferred to the First Fac. coz they wanted better clinical exposure (however, it's not that easy to transfer as the First Fac. hardly accepts transfers, unless you've had an exceptional performance in you previous years and so on).

They all are easy, if you work hard and know the material!

(btw, shrey, I just had to laugh at your last post...if you think latin, informatics and PE are what makes the course "more intensive" at first fac, you are mistaken)

My experience was that some schools are less stringent in the passing requirements, (ie. Pilzen), usually for several reasons, including less English spoken by faculty, desire to keep the tuition paying English speakers in school as long as possible, etc...the good news is that the bigger schools do not need to do this, as there are more applicants than seats, and plenty of students to pay the bills.

My recommendation is stay in Prague. The city is easier to live in, it is a fun place to be, you can get by speaking English, more students to hang out with, etc...If you come from the states, absolutely go to First Fac, simply because of the CA approval. You would be an absolute fool to attend any other faculty as an American. Other than that, they all teach well, none is any "easier" than the other, and if you do your work you will be well prepared to enter post graduate training anywhere.

Hello there dr. pruritis_ani, when I meant intensive, it was in terms of the students passing. We just had out semester test for latin and so many people failed horribly. It was quite shocking (acc. to my latin professor) to see such results ever...and i don't think these subjects are heard but for subjects like latin and first aid, you do have to spend at least some time studying (even quite a lot of people failed in first aid for some mysterious reason)....so overall, may be one feeld like you have to study a whole lot more than what's already there....in fact this year we had three students transfer from Plzn (they're in 4th yr.) and they're finding latin so hard that they don't understand the reason why it's even a subject in med school.....

you have first aid, latin and medical informatics in 2nd fac also shrey, and first fac has the highest drop out rates because they take in so many student each year (most of who were never strong enough to be there in the first place), not because its the most difficult, which you seem to mention in alot of your posts. its all subjective, its impossible to say which is harder of the facs.....they're all fine if you can motivate yourself and work hard.
for people trying to decide.........easy, american? then go to 1st, from anywhere else decide if you want to live in the capital or smaller town, and pick any. All will recieve charles uni degrees. lets stop this.....oh 3rd is hardest, HK is esiest,....
