As I agree with much of what you have stated, I adamantly disagree with the above quote. Most reasonable persons would be able to dedifferentiate the rambling of a peeved individual from the society in which he/she comes from. Give the above mentioned people of the world more credit then that.

i really didn't mean to come across as saying that all the peoples of the world view americans as ignorant, only to state that the op is only perpetuating the already existing negativity towards Certain Americans that refuse to admit that they live in a world larger than north america... maybe its just the non-american people i've spoken with, i don't know... granted a lot of the less than positive opinions of americans can be attributed to foreign policy which really has nothing to do with individuals, but its just frustrating to see so many americans complaining about spanish speaking immigrants and yet come to the other countries and get upset when people don't speak english... i've seen this so many times in prague, americans and others as well, actually getting angry at cashiers, waiters, etc. for not speaking english... this is kind off topic so i won't go on...

Agreed.

BTW, you'll find plenty of Europeans (and others) who are very ignorant about the U.S. Their view of the U.S. stems almost exclusively from the mass media and is highly misleading.

hmmm

Well i think the fact that you actualy attend IUHS says a lot. You still didn't provide the states that will accept you for practicing medicine with 50% of your degree sat at home scratching your **** did you? People don't want to argue with you IUHS, we just want to know which states you will be eligable to practice in if you ever graduate.

And with referance to THE charles university, i think that you should read up on it, and i think comparing each school to the US education system is just wrong, as its IN EUROPE, therefore its a EU curriculum, The majority of EU schools teach on 5 6 or 7 year curriculum, bar the few grad entry programmes.

To Matt,
Ya, many people (iuhsms4) seem to throw fuel on a fire already burning pretty hot. I understand where you’re coming from. The sad thing is persons such as this (ishsms4) make life more difficult for Americans that travel abroad. Keep up the good work in school! PS –I read and liked your blog.

To Miklos,
I have a limited knowledge of European mass media, yet if it’s anything like that of the US or Mexico I can see where your coming from.

To DR DGB NYQ,
You make a great point. Two different curriculums = to suit two different needs.

Peace out

first of all, please don't attempt to lecture me on data gathering, stats or posting verifiable information again. you have yet to practice what you preach!

second, my 99% observation is based on the students over the past 12 years at charles that i have know. i don't know where you get off wanting sources and references for every one of my posts, yet not thinking that the rule applies to you. this is not an article intended for publication, so any data that is reasoanbly estimated within a few points should be fine.

also, these numbers are of interest only to you. you started this post with a clear intention to rally people against this school due to your humiliation in another thread (i seem to recall you making mention of charles' questionable practices as well, where are they alll?). not one person seems to agree that this is an interesting or reasonable topic. they all agree that you are clueless. so, perhaps worrying about how accurate my 99% estimate is, you should worry about your ability to determine what is pertinent in a med school.

oh totally, ignorance is definitely not exclusive to any country, culture, religion or whatever... in fact, since starting school here, i've been made very aware of my own ignorance of south asian culture and customs and have really tried to learn more about various cultural differences...

its not my blog, its dan's, but i think its pretty cool too...

at least four that i know of, all from my group, (there are 6 different groups) so there could be more... yeah david's still here as well....

biophysics and chem exam/tests are coming up and i got an anatomy test to makeup but otherwise things are just fine...

just a word of advice for anyone planning on going abroad to school: if you have the ability, GO HOME FOR CHRISTMAS, it helped me tons, just to recharge my batteries... i actually welcomed studying when i got back, just wish it was as warm here as it is in VA, but i can't do much about that...

you rock MuDr. Neil! when you finish residency, i'll refer all the heska divkas over to your bilingual gynecology practice...

For a taste of how the German media distorts the US, I'd recommend checking out Davids Medienkritik.

Americans and non-Americans are like two ships passing in the night: They may be on the same ocean, but Americans seem not to realize that the other vessel exists, let alone that it is headed in another direction.
