Looking for a solid European medical program
Does anyone have any information on the quality of medicine being taught at Charles University in Czech Republic? My cousin is interested in applying to this program, but I don't have the resources avaiable to scout out the ideosyncracies of the English-medium program. Or if you can recommend any other European program(s) worth looking into, it would be of much appreciation. Thank you.

Research ..
Kiwi,
There is already a lot of information on Charles Univ here on this message board. Also check out the 1st Faculty site at: http://www.firstfaculty.com/ When you say Medical Program, I assume you mean a six year program leading to Medical degree as opposed ( to dentistry ... ). Do some searches & follow the threads and I think you will learn a lot. Many of the pros/cons discussed are around the needs of American students (e.g. which states is the medical degree from Charles Univ First Faculty recgnized in ....). So if your cousin is planning on practicing in the USA, most of these posts will be very relevant. I am American and plan on practicing in the USA. From the research that I have done ( focussed on Polish schools & Charles Univ First Faculty), 1st Faculty is by far the best program from a number of angles. Once you've read the earlier posts - feel free to ask specfic questions in areas of most concern to you & your cousin. |

ONLY HUNGARY!!!
Hi there!
Listen to me. I'm from Israel, working as a perioperative nurse for 10 years here. So- understand something in medicine and all connected. Now in Hungary- mainly in University of Szeged and Semmelwise University, learning 400! (FOUR HUNDRED!) israelis! Just here VERY VERY difficult to be accepted into Medical School. University of Szeged (Hungary) is the only school listed in the list of Top 100 universities in Europe It's not cheep (15K EUR/year with living expenses) but worth any penny. VERY HIGH LEVEL! If you can afford it- my suggestion! You won't regret! All the best! |

Charles University
Thank you very much for your information regarding Charles University. I have since looked throughout this web site, and gathered much information about the educational profile. One student who is attending the esteemed school of University of Szeged and Semmelwise University in Hungary was very positive about the overall quality of education. Do you have any feedback on this medical school? And by the way, yes, I was indeed referring to a 6-yr medical school program. Thank you very much for your time and efforts in responding to my queries. It is much appreciated.

think about Slovakia too
Hi.
Also consider Comenius in Slovakia. High quality education but in short, paperwork not complete for California (if you care). But same as Charles in other regards. Maybe a bit less cost of living and tuition at 8,000 USD. S- |
