Michael Reese Hospital

Hello to all, any opinions about the Internal Medicine rotation at Michael Reese? Are there any other green book rotations there?

reese

I am not yet in medical school (been accepted though!!!), and I can tell you that michael reese is huge teaching hospital. I would guess that they have tons of green book clinicals. I know northwestern and rush students can rotate there, my pops did some rotations there a long way back. Anyways, if anyone has specific info (or any corrections to what i said) keep it comin!!

Michael Resse

Michael Reese Hospital has an affiliation with University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine, therefore, that is where the other students that you see will be from (and residents from UIC as well.

It's is definitely a teaching hospital because of the University affiliation and there is a shuttle to the University as well. The hospital faced financial instability in the 1998 which sort of shook its reputation and led to loss of some faculty and staff from there transferring to other area University Hospitals.

Not sure how it is now but that was the scoop when I was rotating there during my last year of Pharm.D. school at the Univesity of Illinois.

In other words...

It's ACGME accredited and has a sponsored IM program there. That's all you have to worry about as far as licensure goes.

I know a few students who did IM there and said it was a great rotation. Very hands on and very good teaching. I am saving my IM until I get board scores and can go there.

im rotation

I have heard from other students who did IM at Micheal Reese, that it is awful. They are St. Chris. students and maybe someone else will give you information.

Wow, thats surrising. I heard the exact oposite. Goes to show that everyone sees things differently. The most specific info I got was from a SMU student who was telling me that they let they students do everything like art puncture, central lines, chest tubes, etc etc. Personally, that is the kind of stuff I am psyched about.
