MD program
I would call the school and ask to speak to some of it's graduates, Don't listen to the fools who say you can't get a license, If you take the boards go thru your rotations and go to a state that does not restrict that school. Not everyone just gets an MD for show. It's amazing that students that gradutae from the carribbean schools think their training is so superior than, DC,s. DPM's and DDS in the US.

Dude, avoid the hassle and future headache, even if you find a state willing to license you, wouldn't you agree that the time and effort put in just to try to get the license and do explanations is not worth the effort? Do your 2 basic sciences years like anyone else does. There are a few schools in the Caribbean that allows you to finish the basics in less than 2 years then, kick *** in the USMLE and do your rotations. Avoid shortcuts, eventhough I do believe there is some validity to the claim that DC's, Dentists, Podiatrists, etc. learn a substantial and sometimes comparable basic sciences education from their programs, the REALITY is that such practice is generally(almost to a certainty) not acceptable.
Ah, well, let me cut the crap, its you money and your life after all. We report, you decide. |

I agree with you that "It's amazing that students that gradutae from the carribbean schools think their training is so superior than, DC,s. DPM's and DDS in the US."
When in fact Podiatry, Dentistry and Chiropractic schools in the U.S. have much more, by far, superior labs and facilities (and in many cases teachers) than most Caribbean medical schools, with the exception of a handful. never said the training was superior or inferior to a DC, pod, etc school...in fact being that chiros spend most of their time dealing with the back and pods with feet i would say they have far superior knowledge of that area and its anatomy. its just that these programs, advanced standing, are tailored to the allied health fields by giving them credit that, though probably well deserved in anatomy and such, still allows them to work full time. wether right or wrong there is no medical board thus far that has issued a license to a foreign internet medical school...that is why i said that these are just for show and advertising. please show my a licensed grad of any foreign internet med school then i will say they aren't just to pad a resume. and while i agree that most chiro/pod schools are better equiped than most carib schools, a spartan or statia grad at the end will still make at least 3X as much as the best chiro and we will not even have to do free consults in the mall, or build a life treating tinea pedis...had to take a jab... i don't think i will ever have any hessitations deferring treatment of one of my pts to a chiro or pod for their area of care, i just have a problem with chiro's who claim they can cure asthma and cancer by aliging your back and giving you vitamins... forgot dentists sorry so here it goes: what do you call someone who failed out of med school? a dentist...

I've seen a couple of UHSA grads doing residencies in family med. Which means the states have granted them licenses for residency (training licenses). I'm not sure if getting a training license makes it likely that they're also likely to get full licenses in those states as they approach the end of their residencies.
