Here's a forum about Costa Rica's private universities. Very useful to find out more info about UNIBE. I know alot of students from "UCIMED" are passing the boards exam, i am not sure about UNIBE. But from the references i have UNIBE appears to be pretty successful at preparing their students.

Thanks boruca2007. I appreciate your help. I did look it up and they are indeed eligible for Stafford.
Now I just need to find out if they have US clinical rotations. Also, since they are on the quater system, do they qualify for 1 1/2 years worth of loans/12 months as the schools on the semester system. And how do they get it done in 3 years? Thanks again for your help |

US Clinicals
Hi Again,
Yes, UNIBE/CR has US clinicals and fed loans. The US office was very helpful in explaining everything including how the program is structured to be completed in under three years. So you get all the correct information your best option is to call them direct. Their number is 516-512-1177. Hope this helps. |

financial aid
Hey Dezertmedic,
I'll try to cover your questions but please contact the school for official answers. UNIBE/CR is on a "tri-mester" so when applying for financial aid you tell them that there are three terms in our academic year. I didn't have to deal with the Costa rican Embassy or Washington, I just sent my app, transcripts, immunization, letters of rec, cv, essay, good conduct letter and photos directly to the NY admissions office. Yes, you need the physics. Most states require it for licensure. I don't have any info on the housing yet. They do coordinate it though. Yes, they do have US clinicals at teaching (Green Book)hospitals but you need to pass the USMLE first. There are no additional weekly charges. The tour is a great idea but in the meantime request an email info packet from them. It covers a lot of the basic information. Enjoy your visit |

I have visited UNIBE in Costa Rica and let me tell you that the rpogram is still not running in English. They have in fact postpone admissions until January since most student have not yet gotten stafford loans approved. The school is very small but that is really not a problem. What I find a little bit problematic is their lack of infrastruscter. I applied and got accepted, for whatever that accounts, but I don't if they will be up and running their English only program by next year. Anything you may want to know about this school, just let me know.

A warning about UNIBE,CR
This school is connected to a school whose charter was lost in Senegal after one of the trustee ran away with millions of USD.
I checked out all thse schools before hauling myself over to the DR. Once again,Unibe in DR and Unibe in CR are different schools.Unibe, DR is a school, Unibe,DR is a cheaters villa. Please do not post UNIBE,CRs stuff here. MODERATOR, pls remove this post from this forum, does not belong to this forum. |
