I appreciate the support on this forum but here is what I know and don't know. I know not to believe the recruiting office or the Dean at all. What i learned was from locals in Belize. Evidently MUA-Belize did well for a few years but the past year or more, according to my landlord and others (just go to Fidos) there have only been a handful of students and practicially no faculty for over a year. I'm talking maybe 10-15 students. Most students transfer out-some over to the mainland. I am back in the USA. Any ideas about how to get my money back????? All help appreciated.

i don't think you'd get your money back, doesnt even seem like your entitled to it, just because your not happy with the engineering design of the school or just because some drunk at the local bar, told you students go to the "mainland" (what casheuw/agu? ARE U KIDDING ME??) doesnt mean you deserve a refund. if i were you, i'd go back to belize, and just make the best of it, and earn the credits for first semester and then make a b-line if need be, FACE IT, YOUR NOT GETTING YOUR MONEY BACK, MEANWHILE SIT IN THE CLASSES AND MAKE THE BEST OF IT.

I think that I would rather go to a school that really has a building and not one where the landlord has locked the medical school tennent for not paying rent. Some faculty teaching courses and structure would be nice too. The beach and self study are not really an option in an MD program. I have received several sympathetic private messages from other students with a similar experience at MUA-B and will contact the fraud department at TERI if my tuition is no returned. If a school has a refund policy then it must abide by it or lose its loans.

why did you jump the gun? why would anybody show up on the week of 14th through the 18th? WHEN CLASSES DONT BEGIN UNTIL TUESDAY MAY 22ND!!,

Hi, I might recommend starting a new thread for AISM information, as you'll probably get more bites. Having said that, my spontaneus thoughts on the subject (admittingly knowing no one who has ever attended that school). I did look at their website and I looked it up on faimer/imed and found out that they started, just, in 2000. So here goes...

Why there? Do you see something promising? (that I don't...). My advice is, for this one aspect of life - Don't be a pioneer! Don't try to re-invent the wheel! This is the time to be a follower, not to be the person who rushes off into the great unknown. Your medical education will be costly, both in time as well as in treasure. So be as wise as you can (and try to learn from and avoid the mistakes that others on this forum, like myself, have already made.)

Go for an established school. Medical schools, like a good wine or a great relationship, only get better with age. Go for a school in the western or first world if you can. Go for a public University or one thats partially funded by the government of the country it's located in - this may confer additional legitamacy, higher standards and consistant capitalization.

In other countries, public and quasi public schools would be preferred over private (i.e. 4 guys with no connection to mainstream medicine in that country or anywher else buying or renting a building, and a charter and getiing a sign and some letterhead made!)

Go to a medical college that's part of a real university! Chances are they will have their own hospital/medical center etc...If your goal is to be licensed in the U.S. or Canada, choose a school with licensed graduates already on the ground here! Don't attempt to be the first.

We live in a big world: Look to Israel, Australia, Ireland, Hungary etc.. for possibilities. Do research. Choose wisely. Then enjoy the pleasures and challenges that life and god bring your way!
