See how its done R.L ?

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, SEPTEMBER 6TH 2007 (CUOPM) – A new medical school is to throw its doors open in St. Kitts and Nevis in January next year.

An agreement to charter and establish the University of Medicine and Health Sciences of St. Kitts has been signed between St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister Hon. Dr. DL. D and Dr. Robert Ross of the United States to accommodate a maximum of 1200 students.

Witnessing the signing were Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Hon. and Attorney General and Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs, Hon. D

The University of Medicine and Health Sciences of St. Kitts will be engaged in the business of providing medical education for qualified students from around the world, providing medical related services, and in general providing educational programmes and courses.

Government grants the University, subject to accreditation by the Accreditation Board, the charter for a school of medicine with the right to confer the degree of Doctor of Medicine and other appropriate degrees, including without limitation, post-graduate degrees to holders of the Doctor of Medicine degree.

“The Government also grants the University the right to establish a pre-medical division with the right to confer appropriate degrees, including without limitation, the degree of physicians assistant, and to engage in all necessary and appropriate activities that are direct or incidental to the operation of a school of medicine and or such other schools, provided that the holding of the Charter shall be subject to the University continuing to be accredited by the Accreditation Board,” said the agreement.

The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis grants the University of Medicine and Health Sciences of St. Kitts the authority to confer on graduates who have successfully completed the University’s prescribed course of matriculation, the degree of Doctor of Medicine.

The University and the degrees that the University confers will be recognized and accepted by the Government, provided that the curriculum conforms to the standards of the Accreditation Board. Recipients of Doctor of Medicine degrees shall be eligible for licensure in respect to the practice of medicine in the St. Kitts and Nevis.

Under the agreement, the Joseph N. France General Hospital and other public health care facilities will be available to the University for the training of physicians for an annual fee.

The University shall continuously provide to citizens of the Federation as recommended by the Government two (2) scholarships tenable at the University. The scholarships shall cover only the cost of tuition, books and equipment.

This is a very redundant post. Is it possible for some one to lock it?

this issue is very relevant

What is the trouble here?
Fire fighter has commented on a issue of truth which has not been obeyed by two other medical schools in the last year-- namely get a charter and IMED listing first. This issue can not be overstated. I know 11 students and a few teachers who were displaced because of this lack of buiness ethics.

I know parents who got hurt and investors who lost thier money.

Perhaps rather than locking the posts we should start a solitary post on the maladies of CMU on the main page where a summary could be put, and where updates could be made.

But this issue is very relevant and ought to be kept in the public view until CMU repents and improve its practices.

This issues is much more important than the OJ stuff in all of the US media.

couldnt disagree more. this thread shows the correct way to start a medical school..... not by theory.... but in real life action all in today's political climate of offshore schools.

ps- im still going to scrutinize this school in st kitts as more information becomes available....... but this place didnt open their doors yet..... so i cant criticize them for lack of more information. however, for not being open, they sure do have more of a medical school on paper than CMU does with their doors open.

1) This is not news at all because some one has already started a thread on it about on 9/6/07.
http://www.valuemd.com/main-foreign-...nder-ross.html
2) I have nothing against the message firefighter wants to deliver, but I just do not see the point of him pasting this exact same article on the Ross forum and also in here.
3) I have nothing against cmu because I have not lost any money in this school yet. However, I have no interest in attending this school because it does not have a track record, federal financial aide and 50 state approvals. If any one who cares about any of the things I care about most, then I will advise them not to attend cmu. I mean what is the point of spend all the money and time when u are going to be limited on where u can practice for the rest of your life?
4) I do not get overly compassionate about cmu because I have absolutely no financial investment in this school. Only I know for sure is all caribbean schools are generally gear towards making money, but some of them have more money and they can open up more doors for their students.

I think this post was meant to instigate more than anything. While I agree that what Dr. R. is doing is the right way to do things, and what CMU has done is the absolute wrong way to do things, we have covered this ground before. Nobody from CMU is coming here anymore (is there anyone left?), and it is a one-sided slam-fest. Not that I think they don't deserve it, I think they do. I do think this thread should be locked. What needs to be said has been said. G
