Make your choices base on the laws instead of of some bloggers or youtube ads.

Now, laws are laws and they are very strict in what they want. As a perspective student, you should make your decision on your freedom to practice medicine in the USA after your graduation instead of factors such as student fees, dorm rooms, free cable and teaching faculties. Sure those are important factors while you are in school, but what matters at the end is your license. If a school's disploma is going to get you nothing but legislative blockages, then you should pay a little more money for schools that are more accepted by the states. There is one thing you have to understand is that what ever school you choose will determine the quality of your life after graduation.

Note to user dt: thanks for the links, appreciate it
If you fell for scams in the past, are trying to get out of your current medical school, and was interested in CMU, I have to ask the question: Exactly how are you doing your research and choosing your schools?

The current university I'm in hasn't scammed me but I am facing a few barriers there as I do not speak the native language in which some professors prefer to teach in. All classes are held in English, however, the struggle is getting to me in some classes. We have a very rigorous curriculum and exams peep in every 3 weeks on whatever system we maybe studying (its the new integrated system that a lot of schools are adopting).

Prior to this university, I was enrolled in a college and unfortunately I became a victim of false information there. Don't get me wrong, I researched the school in and out and everything was fit and fine until the middle of the year when the school got its license revoked and the dean was officially arrested for fraud. My classmates and I and our parents were in a real shock and its something I never want to experience again. CMU was just one of the many colleges I have found online, while browsing. Even if I had found a school listed on the ECFMG or IMED, I would still be asking the same questions, because the opinions of students is something I think about. Though it may seem like I'm completely relying on the opinions of bloggers, I don't. I, simply believe that other people's experiences, whether good or bad should be heard.

All in all, I appreciate all of the sincere and genuine responses from you guys. Thanks

All medical schools are rigorous, or at least I would hope all of them to be. At AUC we had exams every three weeks or so as well. If THAT'S the reason why.. good luck on your boards then.

Having exams every 3 weeks isn't the problem, its dealing with teaching done in a different language and having to remember it that is!

Anyways, I think I've gotten enough answers and links (which I have bookmarked) to my query and probably won't be checking back here.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

dont take the risk on CMU as there are too many uncertainties. stick to the big four or other established schools(AUA&....?)

This guy you seem like you are looking for someone to spoonfeed you through situations because at this stage in life of being in school you should be able to inform yourself correctly without asking some of the types of questions you have asked here.

The information is out there for everyone to read, you read it but you are still attacking people when they reply to you then you are suprised you end up in some funny situations sometimes.

How do you register in a school that they teach a language you do not understand that is very funny. And you are suprised you are struggling, and now you want to go to Caribbean Medical University (CMU) but you want people to convince you why you should not go

By the end of the day you got to decide

"The valueMD community is generally pretty good at exposing problem schools. You know the school is new and striving to recruit students. There are questions about its charter. What more do you need to know?"

While it is true that issues of the university's accreditation/charter, striving to recruit students (lack of growth) in some cases performance of the students in USMLE Step 1...(Results) because these issues go to the core of your continuation towards the attainment of your dream to become a MD or not. It is not foolish to therefore take necessary risks as opposed to unnecessary risks. And this can be achieved by getting the basic issues as pointed out above, addressed. Not by being scared to decided, but by researching and learning from objective opinion here on valueMD community. Objective opinion will state facts as they are not hearsay. There are many new universities, and being new is not a problem. The problem is what a new school is not capable of doing or has not done yet--that is what you should be looking at.

Another issue is: When you take advice from anyone, insider or outsider, make sure that the outsider does not attribute the problems that his school encountered during its establishment to another school that is just opening up its doors to new students. Just because it's new.

I could go on and on but hey ..... generally speaking, this community has lots and lots of good information. I truly believe it is a great community on the net today. By the end of the day you got to decide!!!

Those who attend a new school have every reason to promote it because they are out of a degree if the school closes due to low recruitment. In the St. Chris case, we saw students recruiting others simply so they could keep their own heads above water. Thus, you need to be wary of positive news from students at fledgling schools. As teratos has pointed out, the destination is the same whether you go to a new school or an old school. -- you don't get any bonus points for taking a risky route. Thus, it is foolish to take unnecessary risks when there are proven low-risk alternatives.
This is the best thread that explains the situation here for schools like this one, that I have ever read!

The problem is this (As I see it) You start at a school and it's the "Honeymoon Phase" You think this isn't too bad and hey I will be a Doctor, well truth is this:
1. You have to pass
2. You have to then pass the USMLE step one
3. You have to have GreenBook Clinicals
4. The school has to take care of Business (Not you)

Students ( I got sucked in before) get sucked into this "School pride" thing and either walk the line for Cheerleader (unintentional) or someone who just Discusses the school. You should always just discuss the school!

Best policy is to just answer Q's about the school, remain on the ground in the posted comments, only post what you know to 99.9% accurate,
Agree with people when you are wrong (Good or Bad)
Remember you attend the school, IT's Not your SCHOOL! you attend only.

Telling people to attend is the line do not do this, let people decide on their own always, good or bad the school you attend is your concern, do not be responsible for someone else's choice let them make it!

If they cannot decide thats their problem!

No one wants their school to close down so choose wisely.

My definition of cheerleader:
Tells people this is the best school to attend
Will not accept that there is negative about the school ( just about all these schools have a negative 2 or 3 or more)
Argues the positive to death even when proven 100% wrong
Always uses the school is going to........, in the next 6 months........ as an argument too, has trouble dealing with what is the here and now.
