NAC-OSCE does not replace the MCC EE

Hi all!
I'm an IMG looking to get licensed in Canada. Back in 2011, I read a newspaper article about a medical degree recognition process that the Canadian government was planning to implement in mid-2012 to early 2013 which, if u qualify (based on the required documentation and application etc.), will allow IMGs to skip the MCCEE altogether and proceed straight to the QE step of the application. But so far, there's been no update on this info and I couldn't find anything about it online. Does anyone know if this information is accurate or heard of something of a similar nature? I'd really appreciate any light you can shed on this matter.

The NAC OSCE is being implemented, but the MCC EE is not being removed.
To access the IMG program, an individual has to apply through a provincial IMG program. The MCC EE has to be completed first. For example, in British Columbia, here's what has to be done.
