New way to bypass the MCCEE, program implemented?

    Hi all!

I'm an IMG looking to get licensed in Canada. Back in 2011, I read a newspaper article about a medical degree recognition process that the Canadian government was planning to implement in mid-2012 to early 2013 which, if u qualify (based on the required documentation and application etc.), will allow IMGs to skip the MCCEE altogether and proceed straight to the QE step of the application. But so far, there's been no update on this info and I couldn't find anything about it online. Does anyone know if this information is accurate or heard of something of a similar nature? I'd really appreciate any light you can shed on this matter.

    Thanks again!!!

Thanks Methodnike, but it's not quite what I meant. It's supposed to be a program that works toward recognizing the degrees of IMGs so that eventually, not taking the EE would become a "norm" as opposed to being an "exception to the rule"... we'd of course still apply for matching via the IMG stream, but with the implementation of the "program" (& appropriate documentation from the IMG), the education we received abroad would be recognized as being an equivalent of Canadian medical schools, thus rendering the EE redundant in the evaluation process. Not sure if I'm getting my point across, but hopefully you get what I mean

Not to be too cynical, but I doubt that anything like this will ever happen. The MCCEE (and Part I and II) are cash cows for the LMCC (thousands of IMGs take the MCCEE and plenty take it more than once).

I doubt the LMCC will ever let any of these exams go, particularly not the MCCEE and Part I since they are particularly lucrative.

The NAC OSCE is being implemented, but the MCC EE is not being removed.

To access the IMG program, an individual has to apply through a provincial IMG program. The MCC EE has to be completed first. For example, in British Columbia, here's what has to be done.
