Question to Canadian Official and others regarding changes to OSAP

As some of you may know, there have been some changes in the OSAP application and they've gotten me confused. The application no longer asks automatically for parental financial information. However, if your income is less than $6,200, you are supposed to write a letter and provide documentation of how you are meeting your daily costs.

    Here is my question:

    1. Are they looking for how I provided for myself last year (year 2003) or this upcoming year?

1a. If last year, then I suppose I could submit my parents' tax returns since they were helping me with the costs.

1b. If they're looking for information regarding this year, then I would be meeting all my costs through private loans. But I don't have any documentation since they have not yet been processed or approved.

I won't be able to call OSAP about this till wednesday, so I would greatly appreciate any help you guys can give me.

Message to Canadians IMG or prospective IMGs

Please review the following prior enrolling in foreign medical school !
    http://www.[blocked by request].com

" There are 12,000 (twelve thousand) foreign trained doctors across Canada with no job and no residency, 4000 (four thousand) of them are in Ontario. They have passed the Canadian exams (MCCEE, MCCQE), they are ready to work now! . . . AND there is a doctor shortage. Why doesn't Canada provide opportunities for them? Why all this effort and money into this new Canadian medical school?

Because the bottom line is that despite a doctor shortage, Canada will never provide jobs to graduates of foreign medical schools, even if you are a Canadian citizen. Canada only wants graduates of Canadian medical schools.

Things they are changing. Until now, the major obstacle for Canadian IMG's wasn't passing the Canadian boards, but more importantly getting a residency. But this is changing, with the College of Physicians and Surgeons recommendations which I have posted in this thread http://www.valuemd.com/viewtopic.php?t=20347 A radical, and I mean radical change in policy should be happening. With the recognition of the USMLE and US residnecy's on the horizon.

    But thats just my opinion.
