Financial Assistance for Canadians-Canada Student Loans

FYI,

If you are thinking about attending a Foreign Medical School and would like to receive Canadian Gov't money then here's some background information for you-contact the provincial gov't office where you currently reside, eg. call A.L.I.S (Alberta Learning Information Service) if you reside in Alberta and ask which schools have been approved for student loans lending....this automatically allows you to apply for both provincial and Federal cash....In the past you would have to apply to Canada Student Loans separately but now each province is connected to the Feds...So for example....I am planning to attend MUA this fall....however, they used to be recognized by the Canadian gov't for loan assistance, but for some uknown reason are no longer....therefore I am presently trying to facilitate a working relationship with the Canadian Gov't and MUA to have all the paperwork in place for prospective students who wish to apply for $$$$$..... Be careful, some schools are not recognized for gov't $$$$ but you may not know this when applying.....ask!!!! Hopefully MUA will put all paperwork in place for future students to apply for loans....I hope this is useful information as I have learned the hard way.....

hey

Hey there,

I'm in the same boat as you, just curious how much funding they intend to give you?

And did you apply online for the Alberta one, or using a paper application?

Thanks,

IndianBabu

Paper Only

You need to use paper application....since school is considered foreign, all applications must be completed through requesting a mailed application form...you are eligible for approx 90K.....Hope this helps...

WOW

I looked into OSAP and they offer only 9K per year!!! Not just per semester but per year!!! I huess it's cause that particular loan is interest free and since the student would be studying out of Canada..it wouldn't make much sense to allow him/her to have a greater amount of money without the intertest along with it!
