Canadian Abroad with a twist

I'm currently finishing my M.Sc. uGPA was 3.57, gradGPA is ~3.8, MCAT 39Q. Decent EC's, student government, 4yrs army reservist, many research projects but so far only 1 abstract, should have one 1st author paper for next application season. This year my only app is for McGill.
If that fails, next year I'll apply broadly to Canada, but I'm somewhat skeptical about my chances and want to hedge my bets abroad. I'm not a big fan of the US, and would prefer UK/Ireland/Australia.

The twist.

My wife is in her 2nd year of med school, so if I head off in her fourth year, it has to be a place where she could reasonably follow. She's interested in FM so that may make things a little bit more flexible. Anybody know where Canadian grads can go other than the US? I realize my chances are much better in the US than in Canada, and may have to consider schools there as well.

Since ppl on this forum probably know a lot about moving your credentials around, has anybody ever found out what countries a Canadian trained MD can apply for residencies in?

I don't have much info, but I do know that the New Zealand process for residency/PG training is fairly straightforward. And there are a couple of NZ schools that accept non-residents.

As an army reservist, have you looked at Ottawa? They have a program with spots reserved? for armed forces applicants.

Sorry, I didn't read your stats correctly. With those kinds of numbers, why aren't you applying to all the Canadian schools you can? Your undergrad gpa is a bit low, but your MCAT is amazing, and with all your other strengths, I'd think you have a very good chance!

Why sell yourself short?

And you should have absolutely no problems getting into a US school. Don't think about offshore schools until you've used your very good application many more places. And think about the SU, Australia and New Zealand waaaay before you think of anywhere else.

And I thought my 32Q MCAT was a good score. <shakes head at insanity that is Canadian med school admissions>
