Residency in Quebec

Hi everyone,

Is anyone familiar with the process of applying for a residency in Quebec as an IMG? I know that in Quebec IMG's can enter the 1st round of iterations in Carms but do IMG's have to sign a return of service (ROS) contract like in Ontario to work in an underserviced area for a few years post residency?

I would only want to Montreal or Quebec city. Do you guys think going back to Quebec to practice medicine is possible? What % of IMG's actually match there?

Thanks.

Cool

i know this for a fact since my aunt did it this way, liston is easy you need to pass the MQE counsel of quebec langauge Clinical Exam then you dont even enter the match, is a straight walk in, ask for interview for process the match still exist but also onsite matching exist too, about montrael and quebec city i am not sure they need a good USMLE step II mark or MCCEE mark, but you still have to do MCCEE before you start residnecy in smaller northern or eastern cities , Trois-river places like that
but u think montrael quebec city is, good wait till you see Trios-River, St-jaulone, Gattinuue, HUll
Shelville

then ul find residneyc 120% i put my word on it

No ROS in Quebec.
You need to do the " La reconnaissance de l’équivalence du diplôme en médecine (M.D.) " before being eligible for residency.
Collège des Médecins du Québec - La reconnaissance de l’équivalence du diplôme en médecine (M.D.)

They are way too many steps and this is a nice way to repel qualified graduates. (they should get rid of Step 5)It's a shame also because they always have a lot of internal medicine and family medicine spots unfilled. check the stats on carms.ca
