i just wanted to know can i apply for J1 if i give my EE in january 2007
or do i have to give it by september 2006 latest. Does anyone know

You have to give i by september by latest

I did it in January and was more than fine.

I am not sure if January is soon enough if you are entering the Canadian match. You can go to the Carms website and lookup your provincial or program regulations concerning their deadlines. Some programs only need the EE passed by the time residency starts.

Yes, I did the exam in January 06 for the 2006 match that just passed. You will apply for the J1 as soon as you find out where you matched.

EE in Jan also good for carms, but not sure if you need to take/pass qe1 in may at the latest.
