[quote=p_in_da_wind]Hey Caribgrad! are you doing your doing your resid. or clin.? neither; graduated last year, in process of testing
Which state are you in... ? what difference would that make out of curiosity what was your score on Step 1? n/a; bout to take step 2 in few days how many students took step 1 along with you? who knows, but i know of a handful who had taken it during rotations, and a friend is in residency in FP, some others in IM How many passed? i don't like to ask as i wouldn't like people asking me, and i'm sure no one likes to admit if they failed, only if they did really well do they blab to everyone What area of medicine will you be practicing in? well dear, back when anes was not so amg happy, that was a goal, but now it seems impossible, so backup is IM/Psych the main point is with any of these schools, how much you put in is what you're going to get out; if possible, yea def do rotations in the states, if not (like many of my friends did) was to do them in mexico and study simultaneously for the tests; or even split them up, do your core clinicals in the states and your choice electives and maybe the others back in mx where u can study and do clinicals; the only thing i wish i would have done was take step 1 back when before rotations, i was planning to go to atl to do core rotations in states, for which u had to take step 1, and i tried some time off to study, but wasn't getting anywhere, so then i decided to go and at least finish the rotations in the meanwhile; now i'm taking step 2 first because it's what i remember, it's all applied stuff, so it makes sense, step 1 mat just seems so dry, i've taken kaplan for both (after cahsu's course, but just this past year so it's been like 3 years since i saw that stuff) and i think if one studies and can get a hold of this information enough to pass those tests, it's all good. essentially these schools want good step scores and if possible do rotations in the states for some exp (which makes for a lot easier step 2 i hear), other than that, dont know what else to tell you, sorry if i kept on blabbing, good luck |
