Wow, you seem to know a lot about CAHSU , yes their Belize Campus is nice only because they rent out a nice "front" on DATAPRO compund ( datapro=a Belize software company with some nice real estate) which really makes the school look attractive to fooling a visitor doing homework to think this is a quality school !!!
Buyer beware , their Juarez campus (the dump) is run out of a one room shack. (Yes they hide in a nursing school . No I am not joking about it being a shack. Even the floor ceramic is broken in many places. Anyhow the only thing I can offer is that you should study on your own as much as u can. In clinicals we are having isuues in some states Georgia we have almost abandonned because of contract (read: money problems) with the Atlanta sties so its Juarez then Illinois, Conn, and we shall have to see next. PS : for strongdoc. Strongdoc, I notice u seem to mock at me, when the only intelligent conversation you have put up revolves around hot chicks in medical school. There are a little more important things. |

in case you haven't heard, DATAPRO went out of business. so that front building you've seen when you enter the complex IS owned by CAHSU. their logo is on that building now too, and they've aquired another one or two as well (they have 3 or 4 total now). they are attempting to set up a residency program in the adjacent building to our school (with karl huessner hospital). this would be especially good for texas licensure, as they like to see that a school is established enough to see the hospital/residency affiliation.
do i get anything from this school for saying anything good about it? NO. have i talked trash about my frustrations in being here... yes. but i do believe that they are headed in the right direction. why do i want to believe in this school... because my future depends on it's success. because i'd like to take some pride in where i went. people who graduated from st. georges university back in 1982, 1983, 1985, probably didn't have the most wonderful things to say about it. they do now. how do people feel about kigezi right now? not so great. i've had great teachers here, okay teachers, and terrible teachers. where is that not true? am i saying to those students who are scrutinizing this school that all is well? no, and i'm not saying to come here either. it was the right choice for our family. if it was completely up to me, we would have been at saba. but regardless of where i am, i will make 90+ on the boards, and have options when i graduate. i think the most frustrated people are the ones who were expecting to be spoon fed, and know all they would need to know from lecture, and found out that minimal individual effort would mean failing the boards. |

Student from CAHSU
Central America Health Sciences University (CAHSU), Belize Medical College, Belize.
I am a current student studying at CAHSU. I took transfer from one of the Caribbean school. I visited most of all the Caribbean medical schools, I will say only few have high academic standard. CAHSU has excelled in academics and other facilities. I am happy with how the university is going and the vision and future plans of the dean. Before my acceptance to CAHSU, I talked to the Dean, the admission officer & I personally visited their campus in Belize. All I can say is wow, it’s excellent. I never heard the name of CAHSU on valuemd or any other forums so often so I was a bit worried to attend this school. But after seeing the school personally I was surprised with the facilities, academics, and the student population. A student population of 90 in basic science. The campus Its very big campus, with 3 hexagonal buildings and a new one coming up. It will occupy the auditorium, more labs and a gymnasium. They have a swimming pool, Football ground & a basketball court on campus. The campus is full of gardens and greenery around. It's a proper campus and not like other caribbean school which are running in small buildings or shopping complexes. Facilities All classrooms are fully equipped with audio-visual aids, comfortable desks and chairs etc. Micro and histology lab. Anatomy lab with cadavers, Bones sets etc. The Library is huge with thousands of books and journals and a computer access room. The library is one of the best which I have not seen in most other Caribbean medical schools. A student lounge with pool table, TT table etc. Wireless internet network in the campus. Faculty When I visited the university, I sat in few classes. Some of the faculty members are excellent and others ok not so bad with every other school the same thing. All the faculty members are MDs and they don’t teach multiple subjects. Every subject has a lecturer. Overall they are great lecturers. They are very helpful and available all the time. Curriculum Different from other Caribbean school, in a way it’s good. As you study system wise. You study Internal Medicine, Surgery, and Radiology in basic sciences. So when you go for clinical everything is repeated and in a way it’s the best. From 3rd trimester onwards we go to hospital rounds & whatever is taught in class, the practical part is done in hospital. So you get to see many patients in basic sciences. Kaplan USMLE step1 training in 5th trimester. Clinical rotations are of 88 weeks duration. Housing The university arranges housing for students which is few miles away from the campus in a housing society. It’s secured and fully protected by round the clock security. An apartment comes with fully furnished 2-3 bedrooms, a hall, Kitchen and toilets. Rooms are furnished with T.V, Refrigerator, washing machine etc. Free transportation is provided by the university from housing to campus, for shopping and sightseeing or student tours. Why should you come to CAHSU? Positive aspects. With more than 30 graduates as licensed physicians in USA. Around 60 graduates currently in residency programs in various states in USA in competitive fields like surgery, neurology etc. As many as 150 students in clinical rotations in USA & UK. Guaranteed clinical rotations in USA. With clinical rotations set up in 11 states in USA at around 30 ACGME (Green Book) Hospitals. Rotations are also available in UK,Belize,Mexico & India. Financial aid, Loans and Scholarships available to eligible to students. USMLE pass rate of > 85%. Solid curriculum and facilities. State of art infrastructure. Admission Please contact the admission department in USA or Belize directly. Their website is under construction; new website will be up soon. They accept transfer students from other school, after carefully evaluating the transcripts and credits. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to PM me. I will try to dissipate most of the heat and other rumors. |

Sigh, another one of those infomercials...
So, is it true that the owners of cahsu also own spartan? If so, if they cant get Spartan right after 20+ years, why shouldnt I think that you're hyping cahsu? |
