spousal Abuse / Ethics Question

Hi,

I know child and elderly abouse is reportable..

Is Spousal Abuse reportable?

From what I understand is that you don't report this and only advice your patient to leave the relationship/get counsouling. Is this correct or would your report it?

I believe you would report the abouse if the mother was pregnant.

spousal abuse is not reportable but should definitely be encouraged. Most women choose not to report for reasons such as dependency, fear, etc. also i dont think pregnants have to be reported.. even though im not 100% sure on this one. i know that women can choose NOT to have a C-section even if the child's life is in danger because mommy's still in control. i guess if the pxt is sound and healthy (not mentally ill), they have a choice. and obviously like u said, children and elders are exception as they must be reported.
