what is a oral advance directive in comparison to a written advance directive?














Oral advance directive--the patient has VERBALLY expressed his/her wishes to the doctor, a family friend, spouse,...someone of his/her wishes. the problem arises in the interpretation...
Written advance directive--can be of two ways: "living will" where it is written down the patient's wishes, or by a proxy (power of attorney) in which the patient selects a surrogate to make the medical decisions..
