chances of transferring to avalon clinicals

    Advertisements

my school refuse to let me take my usmle and refuse to give me rotations, even though I'm one of the top students. I was wondering if avalon would accept a transfer students into clinical science without the USMLE?
I was also wondering if Avalon would sign me to take my USMLE??

Is there something missing from this story? Why are they not letting you take the USMLE?

Avalon University does accept students into the clinical science program if they have not taken the USMLE.

Once a student goes through the admissions process and if they are accepted, Avalon would sponsor the student to take the USMLE.

If you have any further questions please feel free to contact our U.S admissions office.

hey devildoc, yea there are alot of stuff missing from the story. My school has lost all their affiliations with hospitals so they are using agency. Agencies are fine, but the fact that they lie about direct affiliation is not. They are too cheap to spend money on more spots, and yet they want to make more money off of students. They select only 6 students form the class to have clinical rotations, so the rest of the students will have to wait for spots. I try to make things work by finding my own rotations, but they refuse to sign my paper to do rotations at another hospital. They want me to wait for their rotations. In addition, they just increase their rotation requirements to 80 weeks and to top it off students have to finish their rotation right on May and on that specific date on May in order to be elegible to graduate and match. So if you finish before may, you can not match, basically they are trying to hold as many students back as possible. As for the USMLE, I'm one of the few students who refuse to cheat on the NBME, so I didn't get a high score on the NBME. THe school told me that if I dont get around a 600 on the NBME they are not signing me. Not only that, our clinical rotations is not based on USMLE scores, no one cares about that, it's all about NBME scores. This I can easily get around, all I have to do is cheat on the NBME and get the 600 so they can sponsor me, but I think it would be a better route to transfer to avalon and have them sponsor me instead.

My school's rotation is basically students following a doctor around and getting signed off. I heard they only go to rotation 2-4 times a weeks, sounds cool, but since I truly want to learn medicine to it's core, I think another caribbean school with solid hospital affiliations would be better for me

to make matters worse, the dean told a student everybody's NBME scores and their basic science scores and ranking in the class. That student went around the campus teasing and mocking other students. He came in my room and told me everybody's personal stuff, I had to erase all that from my head out of respect for other students. I guess my school does not know the importance of confidentiality, on well.

Do you wanna know what really pissed me off, they are sending some students to do rotations in florida. My school does not have florida approval, so they should not be sending students to florida. I ask them why they do that, and their response is: "don't worry noone has gotten caught yet"

Anyways, no hard feelings with my old school, I just felt that it would be better for me to transfer to Avalon since they have affiliated hospitals

I think I will keep my school private out of respect. You can find it through looking at my history and past thread

Wow man congratulations. I'm thinking of transferring to Avalon as well. I heard a lot of students from my school are transferring to Avalon so I'm trying to figure out why exactly. I am not in clinicals yet but I am interested in transferring and I wanted to get some Info before I make the move.
