where can I get the first aid training required by australian medical schools

Such training IS required. You can do it as a weekend course offered by St. John's Ambulance Service. At Sydney, they organized this for us the weekend before school started. There may be other ways to meet the requirement. Anyway, just ask the school what the easiest way to meet this requirement is. (Perhaps, first aid training in another country meets the requirement?)
