Wow...that's quite a break! I'd still be surprised if it took them more than 6 weeks though. When they're around, it usually only takes 2 or 3.

You should hear back from them soon. I got an e-mail in a week and also got a letter in the mail from an admissions counselor, who also called me. The letter listed things not yet received for my application to be complete. When I talked to the admissions counselor, she let me know what had arrived, transcripts and such, and let me know they would not review the application until all materials were in, LOR and MCAT scores.
Hope this helps. In a nutshell, given my own experience, you should hear pretty soon, if you have not already.

I'm new to this thread. Just submitted my app last week. So far the admissions committee has been really friendly and helpful. I guess its just a waiting game now.

when would be the last day to get everything in time in order to be considered for FALL08? I know sometimes they acccept students to only a couple of weeks ahead, but wanted a little more detailed answer than that. I'm really hoping to make it fall but I'm having a problem with recommdendation letters. Thanks everyone. I hope I can see you guys this fall.

Unfortunately, you can't get a more detailed answer than that from us. There is no firm cut-off date, that I've ever heard of. They have a certain class size that they want to make, so it depends on how many people apple, how early they apply, how quickly they pay their deposit, etc.

Just got accepted today! (I applied in early April, LOR and transcripts in by mid-April, complete letter first week of May) My admissions counselor said that there were a lot of people accepted at today's ADCOM meeting. She also said to pay my fee right away if I definitely wanted to attend for Fall 2008 because the class is filling up. She said if I waited, I may be put on a waitlist for Fall 2008 or be put in the January 2009 class. Good luck to all!

Grats! I'm in the same boat as you. Now I know they wouldn't deliberately lie but I was wondering how much truth there is to that last statement concerning paying the deposit. I have an SGU interview in about 2 weeks and although I wouldn't say that either school is my clear "first choice," I'd still like to know what cards I am dealt before making a 1500-dollar commitment. Is it "safe" for me to do my SGU interview and wait for their decision before making the next move at AUC? I haven't gotten my packet yet so I'm not sure what my deadline is; how far has the deadline been for others from the day they got their call?

Although, I have to say, I'm quite happy and grateful right now. Feels like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders...only to have another one put right back on. Bring it on.

I haven't received my acceptance packet itself yet so maybe this question is a bit premature, but I graduate from college in a week and wanted to get an idea of timeline for AUC. It appears from my research that the Fall class starts on Sept 1st.

1) Typically when is the earliest that 1st years can move into the dorms? I'm wondering about this as my parents recently moved back to India and gave our home for rent. So I've sort of got no place to stay unless I keep staying in my current apartment at college. Which is not impossible but just quite expensive since I'll have to do a month-by-month deal.

2) I know people say it's good to stay a semester or two in the dorms to get to know people, but after 4 years of having a roommate during my undergraduate education, I would really like to have a single apartment. And this sort of arrangement is usually difficult to get in the dorms? And so is it easy/recommended for a Freshman to arrange off-campus living?

3) I saw a post in the classifieds of a guy who owned a boat. I've lived outside the US before and frankly the idea of driving anywhere but the US is somewhat frightening to me (driving in India *shudder*). Is having a boat a viable form of Island transportation for, say, groceries? And as a former swimmer/lover of water the idea of having a boat just sounded incredibly cool to me although I'm probably just being naive. Say it ain't so!

1) The earliest you can move in is approximately 1 week before. You don't get the specifics until probably about a month before. They need time to check out current students and clean all the rooms.

2) It might not usually be this way, but for my class there were actually people who wanted doubles and didn't get them because they ran out. I'd guess around half the rooms are singles. I got the impression it was first come, first serve. The dorm is extremely convenient, especially when you're in class from 8-12 and lab 2-4. Plus utilities and water are included. It is a pretty good deal monetarily. Then there's the social aspect as you mentioned. As for the concern about having a double- it is your own bedroom and bathroom with a shared kitchen and living room. You do have your own personal space. Then again there are plenty of people who do live off campus and do just as well. Personally, if it were possible for me to stay in the dorms for future semesters, I would.

3) Living on a boat, while probably fun, is not feasible. You would still have to drive from wherever you dock it to school or to do local errands. Island life takes some time, but you kinda get used to it. A car (or scooter) is not immediately necessary. Only a couple of us in our class have gotten one. You just get a few people who all need to hit up cost-u-less or grand marche in the same weekend, split a rental SUV for the weekend and your set. I was also pleasantly surprised by the public transportation system here as well.

Oooh, this is good to know. The kind of double I'm used to is entirely different. I basically end up studying and sleeping in the same room as my roommate which is altogether inconvenient. For example, if he wanted to watch TV or have some friends over for Halo it's incredibly hard for me to get any work done with the distraction, or if he has to set his alarm early for some reason, etc. etc.

As for the boat, I don't imagine I'd want to live on one - that'd be far too hardcore for me. :P I mean it more as just a form of transport/recreation. I guess the correct term is maybe Dinghy? For example, if two places were close-ish to the beach but on opposite sides of the Island, whereas normally I would take the bus, now I take the boat! Sounds cool, in theory, but I guess in this day and age things are generally made much more convenient just going through the center.
