Is anyone that is doing clinicals in Providence living at Candlewood Suites or Exteneded Stay? If so, do you like it? And what are some other housing options nearby the hospital? Thanks.

Ummm I don't know anyone staying in Candlewood but most of us who are starting in July got either apartments or houses. I'd say it's split between Farmington Hills (west of prov) and around Royal Oak (east of prov). I think it depends on how long you're going to be here as for housing options. When I was looking for an apt everything was 6+ month lease. If you want some specific places just shoot me a PM

July started about 14/15 for full cores, Sept starts 5/6 and I think some also start in April but I'm not for sure how many

Thanks for the quick reply. So do I understand correctly, the only way to do full cores in Providence is start in July?

Nope...July, sept and april are call full core start dates. The biggest # of spots will be in July though.

If one wanted to procure a July spot, when should one take Step 1 assuming a December date of leaving the rock?

I left in December, took step toward the end of Feb and had no problem getting into providence. I think most people here took it by the 2nd week of March. However, that can change quite a bit depending on your class. I think was one of the first handful or so to take it from my class so everything was still wide open. Don't base your step date on where you want to go! Take it when you feel ready...granted If you start studying the first week of January and take a solid 6-8 weeks you should be good anyways.
