Thread: Do the Doctors we work with during clinicals get paid?

Does anyone know if the doctors we work with during the core rotations get paid? I have heard mixed answers to this question. I am just curious because I think some doctors only work with us students for the PAY but then I heard they don't get paid?!?! Any clarification would help!

Generally I believe the doctors don't get paid extra for teaching students and hence why at 90% of the rotations that I did the doctors couldn't care less about teaching. However, at one of my rotations the attending did say he was personally working with AUC and got 200$ for each extra student he took into his group so you may be getting mixed answers because there are multiple arrangements possible.

There are mixed answers because of the different arrangements. The hospitals are paid $200 or £200 per student per week depeding on the country. What happens to this money after the hospital receives it is anyone's guess. I know that at Ealing, the consultants and registrars that give us really good teaching (based on feedback) do receive a bit of money. The amounts are all confidential as far as I know.
