Another greenbook rotation question

Does anybody have an idea of the consequences of doing a non-greenbook rotation? I just found out that my scheduled neuro rotation at providence is not greenbook. Does this affect getting a residency? I wouldn't think so if I'm not going into neurology but maybe it might...

That would be an issue with Pennsylvania...Otherwise it is not a big deal. Then again if you do 72 weeks of ACGME affiliated rotations, you should be fine (with PA). I don't any other state will have a problem. Concerning residency, that is not an issue.

Does Texas require electives to also be ACGME affiliated? I thought it was just for cores.

I checked both the ACGME and the AOA and found no affiliations for Neurology.

Opportunities - AOA-Approved Internships and Residencies

Of course you won't, as I said, wayne state students rotate there, so you know that they're getting the appropriate "credit"... most likely you will too.

Then it is LCME affiliated, not ACGME. Don't expect Wayne State to vouch for you. We have the same situation at SMU with a hospital that was affiliated with a US school.

best bet is to look up the state licensing laws YOURSELF and not rely on anyone else for information. They can all be found on FREIDA, just google it

actually, i'll be nice AMA (Med Ed Products) Links to state medical boards

know everything about the states you want to go to. For me, Pa wasnt a big issue and neither was texas since the woman and I are both northeasterners with no desire to live with corn.....I did my obgyn DO and it did not impact me at all in regards to residency

however, i researched everything myself

In Texas, you have to have a certain number of weeks. Basically, all of your cores, plus one or two more elective rotations. And by word of mouth from a student that was supposed to rotate through Providence in Neuro, she cancelled the rotation, because she wants to practice in Texas. She has rescheduled her rotation, and is doing it at Texas hospital. However, the smart thing to do if you want to practice in Texas is call the state board yourself.
