The mission of American University of Antigua is to seek and enroll committed, qualified candidates to the medical school and to produce U.S. licensed, skilled, ethical, and caring physicians.
At American University of Antigua College of Medicine, we are dedicated to providing a medical education equal to the highest
U.S. medical education standards.
The limited number of spaces in U.S. medical schools prevents many qualified candidates from attending. In fact, approximately
20% of physicians currently practicing in the United States are international medical school graduates. AUA was created in response to the seriously growing shortage of U.S.-trained physicians available to fill residency positions.
In 1998, Antigua adopted a national mandate to become the preeminent provider of medical services in the Caribbean. A group of outstanding medical educators was chosen to create a medical school of the highest caliber, and providing the first hospital-based medical education in the Caribbean.
The medical school provides students with a superior medical education, preparing them to pass all steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) and for licensure to practice medicine in the United States.
AUA provides medical education in a beautiful environment that includes the familiar modern conveniences of life in the United States.
