I think you can get in. (If i got in, anyone can). But you'll need to take calculus, physics 1 and 2, o-chem 1 and 2..etc..my guess is that you would probably be put into premed 2. But the only one who would know for sure would be Dr M, who is dean of the premed. And that would be after you apply he could tell you.

dude its a pre-med program at a lower tier caribbean school. if this was 4 years ago you'd have a 96% chance of getting in...now with the credit crisis you have a 100% chance of getting in

AUA's Premed program is designed to accomodate many different types of students: from straight out of HS to students with Masters degrees seeking a career change. (if you haven't made that turn-around yet...why not get A's on OChem 1 and Gen Phys 1 over the summer while you are applying?)

Do we accept everyone? Not by a LONG shot.

If you have had some weak academic performance in the past, please be able to demonstrate how you learned from your mistake(s) and learned how to excel in a rigorous academic environment.

If you can email me an unofficial transcript (tcarlson@auamed.org) I can do a rough eval of your academics and reply in writing.

Statistics subs for calculus, Correct?? I took Stats instead of calculus because I thought statistics is more involved in medicine then calculus..

I am planning on finnishing my Pre-meds In Dallas and then I am going to apply to Basic science's MED1 after I take Ochem1 and 2 and physics1.. is physics 2 necessary?

Correct. A Calculus, Statistics or higher Math course will fulfill AUA prerequisite.

Physics 2 is not required for admission to Basic Sciences.

Mr. Tipton, is it required to take physics 2 if I'm completing my pre recs at Antigua? I completed Physics 1 already here at my undergraduate institution. I would honestly rather focus on micro/genetics/cell bio/anat, phys, than physics 2. Just wondering. Thanks

If you are applying directly into Basic Sciences then Physics 2 is not an admissions requirement. If you are applying to the Premed program the Premed Dean will decide your placement and curriculum. It could very well mean you have another Physics course at AUA if the Dean decides you need one.

Thankyou for the reply Mr. Tipton

I am starting at AUA in the fall, as a pre med 3. What criteria would the Dean base his decision on? Do us pre meds meet with him/her prior to making our schedules? Also, I completed physics 1 at Stony Brook University with a good grade where we covered many topics that are covered at many schools in physics 2. Would bringing an official sylabus do any good to exempt me from it? As I said, i'd rather focus on the Biology classes which will better prepare me for med 1. Thankyou in advance.
